You are so right about the Nickelodeon sponsorship of the tree! Ugh!

Thank you Kerouac, your last set of photos are wonderful. The brilliant cascading lights on Rue de Sevres and the windows of Le Bon Marche are sensational, you have given me Christmas in Paris.
Merry Christmas Kerouac.

The sponsorship of the tree by Nickelodeon went far beyond annoying, so I hope they will have learned their lesson this year and won't make the same mistake next year. It's hard to tell from a photo if it was a disappointment - to me the tree looked too skinny and the lights too big. Was their big mistake going for the height instead of quality of foliage and too little lighting?

Joyeux Noël from Paris.
We visited CE Christmas Market last night, and then up to see the windows at Galleries Printemps and Lafayette. SO FUN with the children crowding up to the windows. They definitely loved the Printemps Dior windows more than the Gal. Lafayette ones. Now I know to go to Bon Marché tonight. How long before they take them down?
Many thanks to Kerouac for this and everything. You are an international treasure.

The windows normally continue until January 1st. And on January 2nd, it is as though they had never existed.

And to wrap this up once and for all, even Paris has the other side of Christmas.

Two remarkably different Christmas trees. No 2 is very sad. But both striking in their own way.

It is so beautiful here at Christmas.
The weather has been amazingly mild, though dampish in spots. Tweed jacket, scarf, umbrella just in case does the trick. Flowers still blooming here and there, plants still out on balconies.

Exquisite pics of the lights K2. I'm not much of a Christmas person but I truly did enjoy seeing these light displays. Thank you!!

These are all by my older daughter, with her permission. We walk along, she pauses for a moment, and then later I say Oh my! We decided the tree at left would be "our" tree this year. Christmas market on Champs Elysees: and a little further up the street: Cutting through some mostly boring areas towards department store windows: and then, thank you K2: Parisian charm, street style:

Shoot. When I posted these on my Apple, they were reduced. Now on work computer the photos seem too big. Should I cancel and try again?

My 'puter resizes them immediately -- no problem.
You know what? -- I did not eat a single buche last Christmas.

The buche is more about the visual effect, I think.

I notice you were struck by the beggars. I am always surprised to see a lot more beggars in France than in any poor country I have been to.
I didn't eat any buches either, but then I never do. Maybe the small ones would be better than the big ones?
