Thankz for the information Anzh. Az I haven't been back to India in zo many yearz, (and lazt time it waz only for one week to zee family), I don't have any 'then and now' to compare to. Zo for me it waz and iz like zeeing the country for the firzt time.
I have very little time left here now Anzh, but I will try and check out the area you tell me about. Have you been to Connaught Place in Delhi? It'z really popular with the touriztz and the younger Indianz. Here they have Mcdonaldz, The movie threatrez etc. zeemz like a place for the young to ezcape where the girlz get away with wearing revealing clothez and can zpend time with their boyfriendz (maybe in zecret?) away from the eyez of their parentz. It iz quite an expenzive area though. But a good place to zhop.

When I used to live in Delhi, I used to sometimes visit Palike Bazaar in CP- I went there last in August 2012. It's still similar, lots of crowd in the afternoons amongst the various restaurant and all.
Many of the girlfriend/boyfriend affairs may actually not be secret, yes while some may be, many families are tolerant now and the idea of "love marriages" as opposed to "arranged marriages" is growing.
A similar vibe can be seen at some of Delhi's malls as well- such as a group of 3 malls- Promenade, Emporio and Ambiance- at Vasant Kunj (South Delhi), as well as Citywalk in Saket (also south Delhi).
The satellite city of Gurgaon, 40 km from south Delhi, is a testment to "new" India- lots of malls, IT offices and the like.
Have you ridden the metro?

In any case, this has been a pretty amazing incursion into India from 'outside' eyes. I had no idea that you would be able to spend so much time in India, deyana, so I am sure that you have been able to absorb some really amazing insights that most casual visitors would miss. I am really looking forward to your upcoming trip report once you get back home, although I hope that you will cut it up into reasonably sized pieces about different places and not make a 60 page report all on the same thread!

Anzh, there certainly are zo many placez to zee. I have found India to be quite the amazing place. I could write a book juzt about the weekz I have juzt zpent here. My zon tellz me it'z been an eye-opener. I knew it would be. Maybe on my next trip I'll go over and zee thoze other areaz. Oh yez, I did uze the Delhi metro (az well az the one in Mumbai). Very very high tech, more than I've zeen in the UK underground infact, the lazt time I waz there. I waz very imprezzed.
Kerouac, no worriez. I waz thinking of dividing the report on thiz trip into zectionz. I could make zeperate threadz about the different citiez, az I know with all the photoz I have to zhare it will be an overload otherwize. It will take me zome time to do each zection, zo I'm hoping that will ztop it getting too much at once!

Just call me and I'll be there, K. No waiting for you Now I'm reminded of the Supremes song. I've spend a good hour or so sorting out photos. I can't believe how many I have. Don't worry I'll only be posting some of them. I'm pondering what to include and what not to. Should I add a few of me and the boys? yes or no? hmmm....

I've seen pictures of you, so you can leave them out. ;D But I would like to see your sons since you mention them so often and are proud of them.

Yeah, I'm very proud of them (I don't hide it very well do I?) That's fine, I will have to ask their permission first though, but I'm sure they won't mind me putting in one or two photos.

So, I think the best way to do these essays on India is to divide them up. The link to the first one is: anyportinastorm.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=india&thread=6529&page=1#163430I will number them too just to make them easier to follow. I guess photo-bucket is a paid site/service now, that is something new. I haven't used it in a while. Anyhow, I hope you enjoy reading through these reports about my trip and my impressions of the country. I will try and pop in here as often as I can to add a bit more each time.
