Happy new year to everyone. I spent Christmas in the wonderful city of Puebla, capital of its same-named state. Since Mexico celebrates the Christmas season through the feast of three kings on January 6, I feel justified in posting these pictures today. Besides, they're pretty!

Oh my goodness ~~ it's an entire manger scene made by --clientes.g-networks.net/ansar/productos.htmlBack out on the streets around the main square ~~~ That's all, folks! ~~

I always like sheets of lights hanging over the streets. Puebla does it even better than Paris.

The lights and decorations are absolutely beautiful, and you capture them well, bixa. I think my favorite has to be the figures in the crèche. What gorgeous detail! I also love the silhouette of the trumpeting angel and the woman walking nearby.

Thanks, all! I'm so glad that everyone was as tickled as i by the lavish light displays. Our hotel was quite close to the zócalo, and I never got tired of the blue dazzle. Who said "little things amuse little minds I dunno, Mossie, but it wasn't me. I'd never say anything like that because everyone would turn around and look pointedly at me. Tod, this trip was planned @the beginning of December. A friend asked what I was doing for Christmas & it occurred to me that a trip to Puebla would be great. She was enthusiastic as well, so we got hotel reservations & bus tickets & were off on the 21st. We came back on the 28th. Puebla is very disappointing in its hotels. We took one look at our reserved room, then dumped our luggage there long enough to go out & find another place. The new place cost less & was somewhat worn but spotlessly clean & very pleasant. It's where I'll go when I return. There is so much to see in that town -- many repeat visits are in order. You can do just churches or just museums, or just shopping, or just day trips, etc. etc. etc. The pups go to doggy doctor's house. She has eleven (11!) dogs of her own. This was the 2nd time my guys stayed with her & they were wildly enthusiastic when I packed up their beds & took them to the doctor's office. I took a few zillion pictures -- really got into the church interiors on this trip -- & will post them all eventually.

I also like the fountains with red lights at the base -- I was mesmerized by fountains like that as a child and it has never worn off.

Yeah, those fountains are a lovely touch. There are several of them on both sides of Puebla's zócalo. I can't remember if they had red lights when I was there in April of '11, or if those were put there for Christmas. For Htmb, or anyone who might be interested, I made a report on Puebla's tile which includes better photos of the ceramic creche figures: anyportinastorm.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=arts&thread=6291&page=1
