Eeeeeee ~ we have to hop on this! Barbie's Malibu Dream House for full-size dolls (that's us!) will be briefly available. That means all of us have to try to get it and whoever the winner is has to choose her three guests from the anyport pool. (although I think it would be okay if one of the guests chosen was Agnes) www.tmz.com/2019/10/17/barbie-malibu-dreamhouse-hits-airbnb-first-time-ever/Heard on TV this morning that the rent will be only $60 per night! A screaming deal!

That is at least a consolation for the fans.

I was not switched towards dolls and was thinking about Klaus Barbie. But then nobody would wish him a happy birthday. Plus I think he died in prison. Good riddance.

Be advised that when Kimby and I stay at the Malibu Dream House airbnb you probably won't be invited.

Just like dolls in wheelchairs, I think it is important to see dolls wearing glasses. While not all children need this kind of support, some of them do.

Egg-zackly. And equally important is Barbie as a woman with a profession.

I always wanted a Barbie...I had the less glam 'Cindy' doll. I had to make her clothes myself but longed for the fabulous ready made ones on sale in toy stores.
My sister had a Barbie...and a Patch....and an action man dressed as a household cavalry officer.
Not that I'm bitter...

Right ~ we can tell! Ryan Gosling is doing a great job of channeling Ken. I'd suspect that he and probably some other stars vied for that role. Gosling seems perfect, especially since he features in one of my all-time favorite movie lines ~

There is no way that I would ever miss the Barbie movie, especially directed by Greta Gerwig.

I suspect that at the time of that funeral, Skipper was judged too young to attend.
Check out the expression on the mourner on the right, the one with the wide white collar.

Hee-hee. Pale, but handsome.
Now I'm wondering if Dead Barbie and all the mourners are not in fact The Undead. That might explain DB's eyes being open.

The cult aspect of Barbie makes me wonder if the crowds of middle-aged and elderly women will edge out little girls in the movie line.

All the promos of the Barbie Movie look absolutely awful. Yet it seems to have gotten some good early reviews and it is “on our list”. So I’ll probably see it next year, if our library gets the DVD. www.imdb.com/title/tt1517268/Looking at the cast I see at least 11 Barbies and 6 Kens. WUWT?

What counts for this sort of movie is the director. It will be marketed as pure crap because that's what the market demands, but I have complete faith in Greta Gerwig. Of course sometimes I'm wrong.

Re: Greta Gerwig and the creative process ~ If you only read one thing today, it must be this:Gerwig’s scriptwriting process involved writing a “super abstract poem” that resembled the Apostles’ Creed. ... [Gerwig] toured Mattel’s HQ, during which this revelation came to her: "All of the dolls are [named] Barbie. All of them are Barbie, and Barbie is everywhere. Philosophically, I was, like, Well now that’s interesting." ... To execute her philosophical vision, Gerwig created what is basically a cross between Camp Barbie and Barbie University. She sent Robbie a podcast about a “woman who doesn’t introspect” to help her get a grasp of Barbie’s brain. Before filming, she threw a fancy hotel slumber party for all the Barbies where the Kens were allowed to stop by but not sleep over, clarifying for all who play Ken what their place in the Barbieverse would be. ... From that point on, the whole cast and crew started going to “movie church,” a weekly Sunday-morning screening of movies that inspired Barbie. Their curriculum included The Red Shoes and The Umbrellas of Cherbourg. And that is just the tip of this delicious pink iceberg of an article.
