I just clicked on the OP to this thread & hey ~~ it was started exactly one year ago today! That means little Agnes just turned one year old yesterday or the day before. Got any updates, Rikita?

Getting heavier to carry around, eh?

yeah, she turned one yesterday. and yes, she is quite heavy. and always squirming and moving about, which makes carrying her sometimes a bit stressful. and very curious about the world. and already quite talented at making me go crazy ... will try to post a photo one of these days, lately i just never get around to things very much. but one of these days i will.

That would be great, Rikita. Do it before she's old enough to vote. Is she walking? I imagine she's saying several words by now.

not walking yet, not really words either but she can say what sounds sheep and owls make.

Yes, it is a wonderful age when they are learning and progressing so fast. Try and relax and enjoy it all Rikita, I know that is easier said than done.

thanks ... yeah, she is learning a lot and is so cute - and a lot of trouble too. today i was cleaning the oven and told her not to touch the sponge (as there was cleaning liquid on it). she kept reaching out with her index finger and carefully touching it anyway, just for a fraction of a second.

Sounds like my mother. Turnabout will be fair play when she tries to get you not to touch things in 60 years.

i'll tell her that as soon as she's old enough to understand - so she knows when it happens...

there is a website here that refers to strange baby names as "chantalismus" (chantalism), because of the name chantal, which usually is used by german parents who can't pronounce it... An American friend named her first daughter "Chantal". Her unfortunate nickname is "Shanty" (which means a shack, or poor dwelling.). Her younger sister got the grander (equally non-American) Chatelaine. HER unfortunate nickname: "Chatty"... You did right by your little one, Rikita, who's not so little as I write this a year later....

I don't think there is anyone under the age of 50 in France called Chantal.

I have a 3rd cousin called Chantal, but she must be at least 65 now.

Amazing! Your descriptions make her seem much more annoying, but it is obvious that she is an angel and you have been lying to us.

That's one lovely little girl Rikita! I hope she continues with those sweetie pie looks as she developes. It always helps to be pretty ( or even gorgeous!). Thanks for showing us!

What a beautiful little girl Rikita. Two year olds can go from angel to monster and back in the blink of an eye

And it's so hard to discipline a child when they're giving you that sweet, wide-eyed look. I can remember a few times I had to leave the room just so the misbehaving monster of the moment wouldn't see me smile when I was trying to be them (like when the oldest was two and completely coated her body in thick, white diaper cream).

ah, i also sometimes have to hold back a laugh when she is upset, as she can look so cute when her little face suddenly changes into a frown and she starts crying - i always hope she doesn't notice and doesn't think i don't take her worries seriously. other times though when she is really upset she looks so sad, i am struggling not to start crying alone with her (especially when it is about things that are 'my fault' in a way, like holding her while the doctor gives her an injection).
