Yes, there is enough room to roam around if necessary. In spite of the 700 people, I did not feel crowded in the "yard." This said, obviously people will find you a bit weird if you start wandering around in the middle of the performance unless you look like you are about to pee yourself.

700 in the yard! Wow. They'd probably think I was trying to pick their pockets. Were you happy to get to see Colin Morgan perform, even though he obviously a bit different from his Merlin character?

Oh, I have long known that he is an excellent actor. If you ever get a chance to see the Irish film "Parked," you will be amazed to see what a stupifyingly convincing drug addict he portrays.

Thank you, but in very polite French it's telling me my iPad is worthless unless I download another browser that will simulate Flash because my Penguin browser is out of date and oh yeah why don'tApple and Adobe/Macromedia get it together and be more accommodating anyway so I guess I will need to get to another computer before I can follow your link because I need Flash.

htmb - if you want to sit whilst watching the performance you must stay in the seat allotted to you...but if you don't mind losing it you may stand in front of the stage. Let us hope that it won't be raining!
Perhaps take a cusion to sit on....or hire one!

They do hire both cushions and blankets.

Ok....let's see if I have this straight. They assign a seat to you, but you don't have to sit there. You can sit on the ground or you can stand. Is that correct? This is the first time I've heard about the sitting part, I think.
I don't think I'd physically mind the standing part as long as I can move a little bit. I just think I would concentrate more on the play and be less prone to ADD mind wanderings if I were sitting. If I'm standing, I'm going to move. I'm not sure if that makes sense. I sounds like fun. I doubt I will get to the Globe since I have a ticket to Les Mis, but will see if something changes.

No, the seats are around £25-£35 -- they are in the upper galleries of my photos in the London report. Most of it is just hard benches.
I don't know if people sit down in the yard when the ground is not wet. I suspect not, because some people would want to stand anyway, and they would block the view.

Sitting is not allowed in the groundling area. No folding seating devices, no sitting on the ground.

The production of The Tempest that I saw at the Globe is being released as a film in UK cinemas this month. It looks like the weather was just as bad the day they recorded it as when I was there.

I'd have loved to see that. Roger Allam as Prospero! I really like Ariel's costume, too.
