This test takes twelve minutes. You have to try to guess the 100 most common words of the English language. My score was only 46/100. It is very embarrassing at the end of the test to see how many easy ones you missed.

56 also. There were a couple when the answers were revealed that I was positive I'd put down. The time factor and wondering if a word is a version of another word made me tense. To quote Fumobici:

I got bored with it and walked away.

49 and I smacked my forehead when I saw some of them. How I missed them, I'll never know.

I was able to console myself with "oh, I'm just forgetting my English" -- but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't do much better in French.

"well", "umm", "you know" and especially "like" have got to be right up there.
and "goes" (as in "then he goes blah, blah blah and then I go yadda yadda yadda....)

I always think tests like this really prove something entirely different than what they purport to be testing, but probably by accident.
In other words, we're trying to think of something under the gun and something about the way the test is presented more or less prevents that. I know someone who appeared on the tv show Jeopardy and did well. However, he forgot his son's name when it came time for him to say a few words.

I finally took it. I got 61. But I'm embarrassed at some of the ones I didn't think of.

Frankly, this is an excellent annoying quiz. I am holding off taking it again after 3 years because I am pretty sure that I will be humiliated again.

I must be too sleepy and disoriented from the time change. I started the test and after writing the word "be", drew a complete blank on other words.
