Hilda of Whitby -- (c. 614–680), an important figure in the conversion of England to Christianity.
Question: in a case like this, when it is somebody of someplace, do we ignore the "of" or consider it part of the name? For that matter, would the pertinent part for purposes of this game be Hilda, or is the Whitby included as a sort of last name?

My feeling is that if that person is identified commonly as your example then it is ok. Just saying Hilda or Hilda Whitby doesn't really identify the person but Hilda of Whitby does. There are those that just have one name and can be identified by them, as in Madonna, Rihanna etc even though they do have a normal name, but we will use our discretion. I can't foresee too much of a problem.
