Lang Son. Southern french base along the RC 4. RC4 was a major disaster during la guerre d'Indochine the french trying to evacuate 6000 men along this road and less than 1000 making it.

Ragusa town in Sicily once noted for the natural asphalt (limestone impregnated with bitumen) that was mined there. Before WW1 it was used by the Germans to pave city streets, notably Berlin.
