Oh, I am so thrilled to read this! I have thought about you many times. Goodness knows we all have our own reasons for being in absentia from places in our lives. Therefore, no questions, queries, only exaltation in the best fashion I can express regarding your return to us. Yip, yip yip!!!!!

Thank you for your welcomes, dear friends. Regarding South India I have lots to tell. There were adventures around every corner. I think I had better start a thread in the appropriate place. I have missed you all so much.

I apologize for my long absence. I promise not to disappear again. For the last two years I have been laid low by excruciating knee pain from a fall in the high mountains in Nepal. I had cartilage surgery that was initially successful but in a short time my knee regressed and I had to endure another more complicated surgery that also did not work, so finally this year 2017 I decided to agree to have my knee replaced. This was in March and I am just coming out of the pain it caused. There seems to be nothing like knee pain! But the job has been well done this time and I'm back on my laptop and able to concentrate. It may take me a while to get used to the new (to me) board format. I have forgotten most things such as how to upload photos. By the way is it possible to download pictures from my mobile? I'm thrilled to have a lot to read and enjoy. Luckily Bixa spotted me a Facebook and reminded me to return. lots of love xx

Wonderful to see you here, Spindrift! I've heard that knee replacement is an extremely long and painful recovery, so it's particularly heartening to see that you're ready to get back in the game.
You know I am always ready to walk anyone through picture-posting or anything else. Re: downloading from mobile -- unfortunately, there is no bypassing the hosting of pictures -- you still have to host them somewhere first to get links to post here.

If it's of any comfort, I still need help with posting photos, I have no clue as to what "host" I should go with, and does it cost money, how to tweak them, all that. I relied on Picassa for ages before they switched over to a new format and got completely lost, frustrated and then threw up my hands and said F It. I used to love the ease which it took to post pictures but, it's not that easy for the Luddite...

Kerouac, Casimira, Mich, OnlyMark and Bixa - thank you so much for the welcome. I won't disappear again. Unfortunately I have not been able to travel anywhere for two years however before my knee problems I had spent two months in India so I have a lot of pictures to show you. We visited Goa, Hampi (my favourite place anywhere), Delhi, Rishikesh and then flew further north to Kathmandu. I had not seen Kathmandu since the recent earthquake and there was still a lot of rubbish and broken buildings around. I found this to be very sad. I have been warned by my doctor not to visit India/Nepal again until I am 100% better just in case I 'pick up something nasty' and have nowhere to treat myself ! I have travelled from Chennai down the coast slowly to Kanyakumari and Rameshwaram, then up to Kerala. I would love to go the other way, up the coast from Chennai to Kolkata. Here's hoping for the best.

Spinny, let me add my "huzzah" to the Welcome Back Chorus! Great to have you return. Again. ;-)
Check the photo hosting and/or tech thread for info on how to upload directly to AnyPort without a photo hosting site. Even a Luddite like me can do it!

Namaste, Spindrift, or Tashi delek, whichever you prefer. I joined APIAS just as you took your sabbatical and vanished. I think we have experienced quite a few things in common so I wait to hear of your latest doings.
