Take all the time you need, Woody ~~ we'll be waiting for you. As you look around the forum you'll see that many members unfold their subjects over time, allowing others an evolving sense of intimacy with a place. (Htmb is doing this to great effect with several of her threads in the US board, as is Kimby with her Otis Family Farm thread, just to name two.) But of course we're also eagerly awaiting your encounters with life in the new neighborhood! Watching her at the playground today (we're now regulars at Square Rictus) was almost heartbreaking when she kept trying to talk to the other kids, and they would chatter back in French. My family moved to Madrid when my sister was 11 months old. The ladies who worked for us said that it was rude for my brother & I to speak English in front of them. The upshot was that three years later when we returned to the US, my sister was proficient in Spanish but her English was more on the Spanglish end of the spectrum. ;D
