Wonderful report. I'm a big fan of Van Gogh and would love to do this same trip.
My favorite photos are the golden wheat fields. Well done.

Great report and loved your photos, we were there in July 2014 as well, some very similar photos but apart from the sunshine, it was rather wet the day we visited.
I laughed when I saw your photo of the blue and white Citroen, I took one of that same car, I checked the registration plate, so cute!
thank you, Debbie

Who knows where I was or what I was doing, but I've only just seen this very beautiful thread. It grows more exciting and poignant as you walk out of the modern world and walk where Van Gogh actually walked. Perfect capture of the place -- thank you!

The location of Vincent Van Gogh's very last painting has been discovered and will soon be a new pilgrimage site -- it is only about 150 metres from the pension where he was living. At the moment, it is behind a fence for protection, but it should be visible again before long. Vincent's last painting

What a great find and great story. Art sleuthing is always fascinating. You're undoubtedly right about it being a place of pilgrimage for lovers of Van Gogh. If I could, I'd go there right now! The day spent in Auvers-sur-Oise two years ago is a shining memory. Naturally I wondered if any reports here captured the scene. It's possible that your 6th picture from the bottom in reply #2 of this report might be allowing the viewer a peek through the arch to the road in Van Gogh's painting. A good candidate is the last picture in reply #2 of Htmb's report -- the same road?

Strangely enough today is the anniversary of his death.

I was going to post that too Mick, 130 years ago if my maths is correct, but his work remains fresh and modern at least in my view.

As usual a beautiful and well presented adventure. The clip of Dr Who had tears in my eyes and when the "Starry, starry night" filled my screen I was crying like a baby. The ending also was brilliantly done. I wish it were so.

Reading this on the anniversary of Vincent's death. Amazing coincidence. Lovely post and photos. Thank you for the virtual tour and others' comments too!
