Vintage Advertisements from yesteryear were really something else. From the decades 1950's, 1960's and 1970's there were some quite amusing, funny, crazy and sometimes downright sexist advertisements being put out. Looking through them - I'm thinking WTF? So glad times have changed! Here are a few I found. There are many more. Please do add your own as well on this thread:

And advert from the 1960's for an instant Polaroid camera:

Grove's Tasteless Chill Tonic definitely wins the prize so far. Where can I get some?

Going back to the visiophone ad, it is amazing how many times they tried to get the idea off the ground and it always flopped. What is so funny now is that it was unimaginable to talk and listen without holding a receiver to your face.

And what about loose men, huh? huh?

I have always wondered how to recognize loose women. Love the one in the front with the sassy little wink and all those bows. She just reeks of sin and evil, and surely she's loaded with disease.

And before she infects us, she sings about "Rum & Coca-Cola" with her sisters.

(An older friend once told me that in her day girls were taught to 'serve' their men. It was just how things were done. Sure enough she would totter around after her husband tending to his every whim. What is worrying is that some of the parents from that era probably taught their sons what to expect and 'how women should be'. While in reality women have moved on... )

I'm sure it's caused many a break up! Best to raise our sons to see women as equals.

Good job that women are experts in domesticity and window shopping, because they cannot drive ....

That kind of advertising would never fly nowadays! I happen to think I'm a very good driver. That's why I pay next to nothing for my car insurance. (A good find lugg)

Some of the vintage advertisements out there are so extreme, I don't feel that I can even post them up on here - very sexist, racist and over the top. How about some advice on how to put on weight?

The old ones are the best, I rather favour,

not speed"

Women no longer need special products to put on weight. Both men and women have all the crap they need to do that.
