Kerouac, I think that your dreams are definitely influenced by the all the movies you watch. I seem to remember you saying you watched 2-3 per day...that would be enough to supply the high octane stimulant to feed your highly developed imagination. What do you think?

I am well aware that elements of films that I have seen are used in some of my dreams. Some of the dreams are even in movie form with different shots, aerial scenes or whatever. And I'm not even in some of the dreams -- I just watch them. I remember two dreams from last night. The first one was quite short and was a standard killer cat scenario. I was interacting with a nice little cat but it became aggressive, so I left. But it jumped on my back and apparently expanded in size because it put its front paws around my neck and tried to strangle me, very successfully I must add. Luckily my parents happened to be there and my father pulled the cat off me and wrung its neck (clearly it somehow got smaller again). My mother and I were not really happy that he had killed it and on top of that the skin on its neck had broken and was spewing blood.
I had seen enough of that so I moved on to dream #2 which was in total movie form. I was returning from a restaurant at night with two invented colleagues. We were staying in a huge hotel but we were the only guests. Our rooms were far down 3 different wings in opposite directions. Even though we had already talked about the fact that it was weird that there were no other customers and even thought the place might be haunted, it didn't bother us to split up and go our separate ways, just like in the movies where the people would be killed one by one. Well, it didn't seem to bother the others, but it bothered me a bit because, guess what, the lights were off in my corridor, except for a very dim bulb or two at the far end. There were lots of light switches but none of them worked of course. I got to my room and wondered if the ghost had been there, because I knew there was a ghost. At the same time I was not terrified because in "movie dreams" I know that nothing horrible can happen to me. Nevertheless, I was not happy at all to see that the ghost had been using my bed because the sheets were all pulled around and messed up. The light switches in my room naturally did not work either, but I could see that it was still a huge room with a lot of extra furniture. In the dark, I saw a big rat jump off an armchair and scuttle away. I was wondering if I should get the others, but then I decided to just close the window which the ghost had opened partially. The room was completely icy of course. The thought of sleeping in the messed up bed that the ghost had used did not please me so I woke up.
Then I had to stay awake for at least ten minutes, because I have enough dream experience to know that if I have had a really vivid dream like that one was, I will just continue the same dream if I go right back to sleep and I was not attracted to the prospect.
No other dreams to report for the rest of the night.

My sleep became much more regular when I learned to interrupt an unpleasant dream. Once I felt I had that control, I began to have fewer and fewer scary dreams. Now they are rare (hope I didn't jinx myself here).

The only thing left from last night's dream was that I was wearing a tie. That was a shock!

I dream every single night but rarely remember what is was about lately. I usually find that in my dream I repeat the same scenario over and over no matter how hard I try to change the scene I'm in. This inevitably ends when I suddenly awake and sense I need to pee urgently. Then back to sleep with another dream....

I was in jail in Japân after being condemned to death. I must point out that I was innocent, which is not always the case in my dreams. In fact I didn't know of what crime I had been accused. The jail cell was tiny, about the size of a toilet stall in a public restroom. (At least it was clean.) The Japanese had a little parade to celebrate my conviction and I was taken along as an exhibit. It was along a trail in a pleasant tree lined rural area. Nobody seemed angry with me. Did they even know why I was there? At the end of the parade, I was put in a new stall-cell at the destination. Nothing else happened.
I am quite pleased to have so many dreams in exotic places even though the reason for being there is usually not pleasant. The Japanese are kind of weird.

I was on a bus trip in Italy last night. It was a tour on a not very luxurious coach. I had decided to be completely naked and even though I understood that it might not be appropriate, nobody seemed to mind apart from a few sidelong glances. Even though I wondered why I had decided to be naked, I was determined to soldier on because I knew that if I acted natural, the others would continue to do so also. I was on the aisle and nobody seemed to want to sit next to me, but as the bus filled up, a young woman pushed across me to get to the other seat. She didn't seem to be bothered at all by my condition.
One thing worth pointing out is that in my nude dreams, I seem to be only about 30-35 years old with a completely acceptable body. If I dreamed about being naked as I look now, I would be totally horrified and ashamed.
Anyway, we stopped in a very nice looking town and had enough time to walk around before continuing our trip. I didn't want to be naked there, but the bus was too cramped to be able to get clothes out of my bag and put them on. Luckily in the next scene, off the bus, I was conveniently clothed again and could do my sightseeing in complete tranquility. The town was lovely with a steep central street that seemed to go on forever. It was lined with all sorts of shops but in the far distance there were some thin but tall stone towers. They were quite crooked but also extremely photogenic so I pulled out my camera and began to take photos. (This is already an improvement from many other dreams where I was annoyed by a missing or forgotten camera, just like the passport that so often disappears in airport dreams.) I didn't have time to go any farther before the bus was due to leave, and that fact ended my dream as well.

Last night my nuclear family, all five of us, went on a ski trip. We were all our actual ages (the three departed members were their age at death), but no spouses, partners or children were with us.
My (now gone) youngest sister bought the lift tickets for all five of us and commented that it set her back almost $1000. I offered to share the cost with her. Mom and Dad always paid for everything on these family ski trips, so I guess they were getting too old to handle even little tasks.
Nevertheless, they toddled off to rent skis, and my sisters and I were left to wait for them. Ricky said “I have a deck of cards”, and we were about to start a game, probably Canasta, when I suddenly realized I had come to the hill wearing my long underwear bottoms and had left my ski pants back at the lodgings. So I woke up.
It was really nice to be with my whole family again…

A great dream. I sometimes get lucky to have those too. This night is dreamless. But i woke up at 1 30, 2 17, 3 30, 4 47 and now at 5 30 will try to get some more sleep. Culprits : the cat, the daughter, my prostate.

My dead parents have been appearing in most of my dreams lately, not in major roles but in good shape, which is much better than all of my dreams about my mother being in more realistic bad shape. The father factor is much stranger. Until recently, I went through a major phase of my biological father appearing in my dreams, which was upsetting because I knew what a crappy person he was, but he was contrite and not a bad dream person. And then he shifted in certain dreams (in mid dream) from the person he was (who died in 1980) into my stepfather (the good guy) to continue the plot. And lately the biological guy is gone and my stepfather fills the parental role completely.
The events of the dreams have been of little importance, but who the parents are and how they act is of supreme imprtance to me.
Now I'm wondering about my grandmother who was the most important person in my dreams for about 10 years (she died in 1992). She has drifted away, but I am wondering if the fact of mentioning her will bring her back.

I went through a stage of being apprehensive when going to sleep as I had been having quite a few physical dreams and even falling out of bed. I've decided to live with my dreams and had the first bad dream two nights ago when I woke up to find Mr.Tod holding a pillow to shield his face from some pretty hefty blows. Even then after knowing I was dreaming I instantly fell asleep with no more nonsense. I did however manage to inflict a fist onto his face before he stopped me annihilating him altogether.... No black eyes thank goodness. Can you imagine him telling the staff his wife did that....

I had my first dream I remember where significant parts of the dialog took place in Italian. Usual stupid s**t for a plot, but as the dream was sited in Italy I guess my brain figured it ought to be linguistically authentic.

I was in some office and somebody said there was a call for me and handed me the phone which was an empty bottle of Lea and Perrins Worcester Sauce. It functioned perfectly well as a phone.

Another dream in which my parents starred, just before the 6th anniversary of Mom’s death. We were at the family cabin, but it was a much bigger structure and had a large basement. Mom and I were talking in the kitchen, and I asked where Dad was. She said he was puttering in the basement, and remarked that he tended to get lost down there, and just lean against a wall till he got his bearings. I went down to look for him, but the basement was so full of STUFF, sort of like an attic, or like a museum storage room.
I woke up and turned over and fell back to sleep, returning to the same dream. I walked to the far end of the basement where a stairway led up to a door leading outside. Once outside, the scene changed. It was snowy and there was a ski lift operating right outside the cabin (which is odd because there’s no hill there). I rode on the lift but didn’t have skis on, so was worried about how to get off the lift at the top. That’s all I remember.

Both my husband and I had a dream this past week where a woman from our neighborhood was featured. In T's dream the woman was unconscious and he and another acquaintance of ours performed CPR and revived her. My dream involved the same woman was frantically trying to contact me by phone saying that an UBER driver had found my cat having been hit by a car and was barely alive. It was so real that I woke up and checked my phone. Minutes later my cat jumped on the bed to cuddle with me. What are the odds of us both having a dream involving the same woman and both involving near death experiences?

It's been odd Bixa because since living in such close quarters since May, along with being partners for so long, we have noticed and commented how we have been finishing the other's sentence on different things. "I was just about to say the same thing!!!" The dream synchronicity of sorts however, is particularly odd and downright bizarre.

I don't awake...I go walkabout around the house and wake up in confusion. Last week I dreamt someone had left the TV on but I couldn't find the remote control. I put my hand behind the bookcase and turned the TV off at the wall. Next day I couldn't get the TV to work until I remembered the dream, and sheepishly switched it back on.

Last night I dreamt about a girl friend who moved away decades ago coming back for a visit, more of a confrontation actually, about the events leading to her decision to divorce her husband and leave our fair city. (I had nothing to do with it, I swear!)
When I woke up this morning, I realized that today is actually her birthday.
A 1 in 365 coincidence!

I still have some nursing home dreams from time to time, which is logical, but in this latest one I knew that there was no family member incarcerated. However, I still had business there for some reason. A colleague of mine (imaginary) from a different office had arrived in town and needed a place to stay. I took her there because I knew that she could get a room for the night. This did not shock her at all. Anyway, so I take her there and she goes to sit in the TV room with a bunch of other people, no problem, and that is when I noticed that the excellent flat screen TV that I had bought for the establishment had been replaced with a crummy old small television with a picture tube. Everybody was squinting at the screen because it wasn't big enough for a crowd. I left the room to find "my" TV which had clearly been lent to someone without my approval. I opened the doors of several rooms. The residents in each room were just sitting in the dark like zombies -- there were no windows in their rooms. I finally found an orderly, but we didn't know each other since the staff had changed. Anyway, she didn't know anything about my missing TV, so I went looking for the director, a nondescript woman who clearly did not want to deal with me. I demanded to know where my TV was and that it be returned to the TV room. She just stared back with a look on her face that said "keep on talking, I don't care." I repeated my demand several times to no avail and I became so angry that I woke up. What was weird was that I remained angry even after awaking. There was no way I could go back to sleep so I just got up. It must have been about 5am. And I stayed angry for about a half hour, which I find very strange when you know it was just a dream and didn't really happen.
I guess I am going mad.
