Gross. Clearly she ignored your remarks because it was clear to her than you had no compatible aesthetic sense.

Actually, I was thinking the turquoise lipstick might be a new back to work look for me. ;-)

Yesterday was my youngest granddaughter's third birthday and I sent her two soft dolls, each about the size of my forearm. They were supposed to depict the main female characters in the movie Frozen, which she loves. Last night, in my dreams, the dolls were alive, but when one was bitten by a small rat she grew to the size of a giant. Not menacing. Just a problem to be solved. Plus, the rat, which was now hiding, had to be stopped from biting others. There were all other types of crazy things in my dream, including a church with someone preaching a sermon, my car stalling in my old driveway, a treasure chest filled with fake gold coins (found when digging for the rat), and my granddaughter running to and fro. I can make no sense of it, except maybe I've been watching too many children's movies.

I am always surprised and amazed when I have dreams in animation and/or full of talking animals.

If I saw just half the films and live theatre performances as you there is no telling what my dreams would be like. Much more colorful than they are now, to be sure.

Great dream, htmb. Wonder where the rat fits into the dream mythology?

Well, I've figured out two of the dream characters, so it's not all coming from watching children's films. I have no idea what prompted me to dream of the two if them (former family members). Must have had indigestion.

Dreams are very strange. Earlier in this thread I said I did not remember them, BUT this afternoon I drifted right off in the snooze I sometimes have after lunch. I was right back at the asphalt plant that was the centre of my little empire and things were not going right at all. Our lorries had not turned up so I had to call up a contractor we used when extra transport was required. About a week ago I had been trying in vain to remember the name of the old boy who owned the firm. Of course it came straight to me in the dream, I suppose it had been lurking in the back of my mind, but it was a very convoluted dream and that was incidental.
I must be going potty, or was it the couple of glasses of red that I had with my lunch. Strictly medicinal, you understand.

Interesting the way your unconscious mind was probably working at that name, Mossie!
I typically have a "back-to-work" dream about now, but haven't for some strange reason. This is a first in twenty-two years!

The majority of my recent dreams involve my former work environment one way or another and usually revolve around obstacles for getting things done. A particularly annoying detail is the fact that I know that I have left the company but am still there for some reason to "help out."
When I was working, my dreams often concerned vacation departure disasters, including the usual classic of being at the airport and remembering that my passport and/or ticket is still at home with about a 5% chance of catching my flight if I make a mad dash to go get my stuff.

I might dream about departure disasters, but usually I'm too afraid to sleep in case I miss the flight/train, get delayed on the metro (happened twice on my way to CDG last month) or other problems. Instead I'm up early, sitting in waiting rooms, happy to be at the place where the flight/train departs, even though it's not for two more hours.

I have also been in more plane crashes than I can count. They always occur close to landing. I have almost always been asleep and wake up to see that the plane is flying much too low, just about to clip the treetops while the runway is still a few kilometres away. Sometimes this happens just over the city with building tops to clip. I frantically look around the cabin (like you're supposed to) to check out any escape possibilities, even though it is fairly clear that we are all going to die. Generally the dream stops just as the plane is beginning to hit stuff and break up. I do remember one absolutely horrifying dream where it was all much worse. The plane was crashing into a building (remind you of anything?) and a huge fireball was racing through the cabin right at me and all I could think was "oh shit!" Then again, what else does one think in such circumstances?

Those would most likely be the last two words crossing my mind. And let me just say how comforting this is as I am finally getting around to completing my purchase of tickets for Phoenix (41 minutes to get off the plane, which will most likely be running late, and change planes in Atlanta? Nah! Never happen and I would just dream about missing my flight if I don't go ahead and book the later one now)

I had a totally incredibly complicated dream last night which has mostly vanished from my mind, but the very last scene was an African woman walking into the room (where there were at least 20 people) and pulling off her bra as she exclaimed "my breasts are bleeding!" And they were! The bra was full of blood and the breasts were dripping. That was enough to wake me up.

In a segment of a multi-faceted dream I had last night I was in a restaurant in Paris with my youngest daughter. It was a nice restaurant and as part of the food-ordering process it was expected that I guess the country of origin of the server. My daughter did not need to do this; only me. My daughter ordered first while I sized up the waitress and correctly ascertained she was from Mali. I then looked down at my menu to figure out my order. There was nothing I really wanted, though I continued to try to figure something on which to settle just to be nice about eating in a semi-fancy restaurant. I finally decided, but when I looked up the woman from Mali had been replaced by a man and yet another country of origin to figure out! After panicking a second I correctly guessed Côte d'Ivoire, placed my order, and then moved elsewhere in my dream.

Last night I had a dream that just filled me with absolute joy when I woke up from it. I had gotten up to take a naproxen for a back pain hours earlier, so maybe that was it. I was looking at renting a new apartment in Vancouver that was in a co-op building, and they said I could have it for $2,400 with a 35% discount (funny how your mind gets that specific), at the high end of my budget, for sure. I was sold, though, when I saw the little private yard through a patio door. My father was there, someone who wasn't my mother but was, a real estate agent whom I've met only once, and many others beside, everyone urging me to get it. As I walked through the place it became more and more amazing. It was an amalgam of differing styles, from mid-century Malibu chic to heavy Tudor detailing to an enameled Chinese cupboard. But there were bits and pieces that were broken, carpets had some stains, a lozenge of glass was missing from a leaded glass window and was replaced with plywood. And the apartment kept getting larger and more elaborate with every door I opened. It turned out that there were three bathrooms, a walk-through closet, not just a balcony but a private pier over the water, an enormous antique stove, a fireplace, dining rooms, an escritoire that I thought my husband could use for his office, it was crazy. In my waking life I live in a 600 sq. ft. 50s apartment that I love, but is very bare bones. This weird place seemed palatial to me, but because of its little flaws I thought it was perfect. I hope I rented it. I'd like to live there in my dreams.

Nice dream Lizzy, sounds lovely! In order to get to sleep some nights I think of how I will renovate our condo apartment in a few years, strange how that relaxes me to sleep.

Many times, once I have set up some sort of fantasy world in my dreams (usually pleasant but not always), I return there more than once.

An interesting dream, Lizzy. Had you been thinking at all about getting a new place?
Last night I dreamed I got on the Appalachian Trail where it begins in north Georgia and I started walking in the direction of Maine. It was really nice, except for the sleeping shelters which were filled with sneaky little mice, and the heavy pack of gear I had to carry.

Htmb, that dream sounds more like hard work! And no, I'm not looking to move at all, that's what made it remarkable.

I had an extremely strange dream the other night because a woman that I like very much suddenly thrust herself at me to kiss me, ramming her tongue down my throat (etc.) to my extreme surprise and dismay. I pulled away as best I could and told her that no, what she wanted was out of the question. She was clearly furious but kept her distance. Even in the dream, I was trying to understand the reason for my reaction because we all know that men basically never resist any sort of sexual advance.

Last night a huge eagle came plummeting out of the sky at me. I hit the ground for protection, and it landed on my back. Rather than starting to tear slices off my ears with its beak, it just sort of kneaded my shoulders by flexing its talons. It understood that I was friendly and flew away in a big whoosh.

They announced that today would be the end of the world, but unlike in the movies, there was no mad panic or chaos. No details had been given, so I did not know at what time the event would occur nor what form it would take -- flood, earthquake, meteorite. There weren't very many people out, so I suppose that the news did keep most people at home for the day as we all waited. At one point, I was in a café somewhere and I couldn't decide if there was any point in having a bite to eat. As I left the café, some sort of superior being came up to me and told me that I could be exempted from being killed with everybody else and even gave me a demonstration by pulling my soul out of my body -- it was a sort of glowing orange ball. In fact, the souls were pulled out of a couple of other people at the same time as well as a passing dog. The dog had a much smaller glowing ball. It was kind of cool floating around like that, but I couldn't imagine life as a ball of energy, so I went back to my body and declined the deal. Continuing down the street, I came across a traffic jam -- the only thing that was happening the same as in the end of the world movies. But there was no honking or anything. People just sat in their cars waiting to be able to move again. I was invited into a big car sort of like a London taxi. There were two couples in it already with newborn babies. I thought what a shitty deal it was to be born just as the world was ending, and that was the thought that brought the dream to an end.

I'm not surprised that the other night I dreamed I was in NYC, but I was confused in the dream because I kept trying to communicate in French and no one could understand me. I also needed to purchase a subway pass for $20. I had about $12 USD in bills, but my other money was in francs.

And I was back at work but with just two colleagues. Over the past year, I have been oddly dreaming of just about every colleague I ever had, each playing a minor role in my dream. Last night I dreamed about the only finance office colleague who stayed in the company and is now in charge of the finance department. I was having lunch with her today (in real life), so it was not really odd to dream of her, including the fact that in the dream she was in charge of me, which is the opposite of the real past, but she really is head of the department now. The other employee was one that she hired after I was long gone, a Luxembourger of Congolese origin. I have seen him perhaps 3 times in my life, so it was astounding that he could appear in a dream. (Nevertheless, he seems to be a nice guy, so I was happy to have him as a colleague in the dream.)
As is always the case in every single dream I have had about work since I stopped working, I was an employee but I never actually do any work. I just kind of wander around and talk to other employees. This allowed me to determine that the office was now located in Vietnam, which pleased me very much. I found a great restaurant where I was looking forward to having lunch every day, but unfortunately the dream ended there.
