Nycgirl, that's great news! I am sure you will hit the bloom either right at the peak, or just slightly past. It should be beautiful. I hope you take photos to share. I took a cruise last October that went up to Georgetown and then back to Anacostia (I think) and I really enjoyed it very much. I'm sure I have some photos in a report here somewhere.
I was told the weather got too cold and they had to wait until it warmed up more to take off the rest of the Washington Monument scaffolding. It may be gone by your visit.
Yes, Georgetown is a really cool place to walk and get lost. Lots of interesting places to eat and shop, too.

htmb, I just wanted to share this website for the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival which is running all of this month, for anyone who happens to find themselves on the opposite coast on any given year. Thankfully, the weather has cooperated this winter and things are on schedule here. This is also interesting, a google map that points out all the specific spots for all the different cultivars, and whether they're blooming. I don't mean to highjack your thread, and I'll hope you'll forgive me. I'll try to do a photo essay next year, it's just that work prevents me this year.

Not a problem, Lizzy. Great idea, in fact!

I think I have said this before on one of your other Washington threads - but looking at these photos really makes me want to visit. It appears to be a city with something for everyone Your photos are, as always, just fantastic, I really like the one of the little sparrow
