I never doubted for a moment that you would get your visa, but worrying about such things is part of the planning process.

Thanks so much! Tomorrow is our schengen appointment. One stumbling block - they only accept original bank print-outs of ones account for the last 3 months. I gave those to the UK agency so now it means paying a flying visit to the bank as it opens . Our appointment is 11.30am - 75km away. I will take the copies I made anyway.

Gosh! We would have difficulty with that, all our banking is paperless, on-line statements for our accounts and credit cards. I can print them but they are not officially from the Bank. Best of Luck Tod, they must encounter this all the time with each agency wanting originals so hopefully copies will suffice.

Ah yes, some countries' consulates accept only original bank statements- often signed and stamped by the bank. Really, in this and age of netbanking...
Anyways good luck and I'm sure you will be celebrating in only a few hours.

Oh dear - paperless is no good. My husband took his printout done at home of his up-to-date bank statement in the hopes the bank official who he has known for nigh on 15 years, would put the bank stamp on it. Not on yer nelly! He then joined the queue of 3 and had them give him official print-outs. It seems we passed the test at the agency so just waiting to hear from visa people.

Having trouble logging onto Pro Boards so I thought I would try as a guest.
Yes, paperless for almost everything now which is infuriating my parents and in-laws who each do not own or now how to operate a computer. You can still receive paper statements but each institution will charge you a fee, $2, usually. But if you add this up every month, your phone bill, cable bill, hydro bill, natural gas bill, visa bill, you already are at $10 a month and this is not including your bank account statements, other credit cards and cell phone companies you may have that have gone paperless. It is seems every month we are getting notifications to go on-line an accept authorizations for paperless statements.
It would be interesting to know of any Canadians who are going through any Visa application processes to see if they have encountered any problems.
Very happy for you Tod that you will have all you need soon and will be off onto a wonderful holiday!m

Yes! they said....you can have a visa and visit Paris where we expect you to spend a great deal of euros - and don't come back 'till you do!

Picked up our schengen visas today and nearly fell over backwards when the clerk asked us to check the dates and see all was in order - Those Frenchies have been generous this time and want us to spend, spend, spend until August 2016! It's like having a two year sentence to enjoy yourself This means a great deal to us because now Europe is our oyster and planning can immediately begin on another holiday. I'm over the blinking moon I can tell you!

Now you can really move forward and complete all your planning, Tod. I imagine you will also be traveling during one if the more perfect times of the year weather wise. It will be nice to be able to travel vicariously through your anticipated reports.

Thanks everyone! I find planning a trip exciting but very arduous if you are planning routes and hotels in off-the-beaten paths. I'm hoping I haven't made a huge booboo somewhere.

Have a great time

I forget who said words to the effect that "it is better to travel hopefully than to arrive" Whoever it was, he certainly said it before the days of sleeping in airports because of flight delays, security checks, etc. As much as I like being in different places, I find the "getting there" worse and worse.
