If there is one thing in this world I find more repellent than cl*wns, it is >>shudder<< mimes. So what dreadful twist of fate made me walk right into a nest of baby mimes when I innocently took my dogs to romp in front of Sto. Domingo? I figured it would be a great photo-op at any rate, & that I could snap some good candids. But no. In their icky, attention-seeking mimeish way, they kept hurling themselves in front of me and posing, posing, posing. No apologies for this long introduction, as it's meant to give fair warning to the squeamish & those allergic to cutesiness. If you proceed to peruse the pictures, I take no responsibility. This apparently was the graduation of a course in this um, art form, so there was a great deal of corralling the kids into groups & directing them to be mad, sad, happy, etc.

Fantastic Bixa! What a delightful group of young people all having a really good time. So nice to see the basic white face interpreted in so many different ways! I loved the doggy grin!!

Oh, I feel your pain, Bixa. I as well.... What's even worse is that seem so amateurish. We have our fair share of them here, gratefully, within the confines of the French Quarter. What really gets to me is how the crowds that gather to watch them block the sidewalks and make it difficult to get around to where one needs to go.

See how sweet Tod is?! You are so kind & good to see the positive in everything, Tod. Although I'm deeply grateful to all who empathized with my dismay. The thing was, they kept wanting to interact with me and, since they were practically children, I couldn't react the way I usually do to mimes. Several of them came up to me & were gesturing with their faces toward Oliver, who was at my feet. They'd hold up one hand like a paw & make what I guess were doggy faces. I'd "smile" and say, "Sí, sí -- el perro!", thinking they were acting out "dog" & wanting them to get away from me. But no. It turned out that Oliver had his dewclaw caught in his collar, so couldn't walk. Of course they could not speak this information to me. Also, as if I hadn't suffered enough, a couple cuddled in & took selfies with me. Speaking of suffering, you all need to be very, very nice to me. I have several more of these pics that -- so far -- I've decided not to post. Heh heh heh heh

Despite your angst and agitation, bixa, the photos you've posted here are excellent. You must thrive under pressure.

I meant to say the same thing to Tod as you did Bixa, thank you.
Oh!! Bring 'em on Bixa.
It's fun to have a safe place to empty our gullets into, in a safe way, and not be offensive to anyone.
You prefaced it well in your OP.

Despite your angst and agitation, bixa, the photos you've posted here are excellent. You must thrive under pressure. You are generous in your praise and in your estimation of my character and I thank you. But how do we explain the fact that when I left that merry crew, I walked down the street for a half block, stumbled, fell, & badly bunged up my knee and arm? Aww, thanks, Casimira. Really, there are only one or two more that might even be worth posting, and they are stashed on the other computer, so you all are safe ..... for now.

For some reason I had the impression you had encountered the mimes on the Sunday a week AFTER you had fallen. Clearly the mimes cast a most evil spell on you!!!!! Mimes will do that. I certainly hope you are finally healing and your physical pain has lessened. It will take awhile to get over the emotional effects from the mime encounter, I would imagine. How did you manage to save your camera? Was it damaged in the fall?

Thank you, Htmb! I was using the "dog bag" at the time. This is a sturdy, lined shoulder bag that I keep stuffed with plastic bags for picking up poop, alcohol gel, napkins, etc.The camera in its case was in the dog bag. It may have been the wad of plastic bags that protected the camera, but the camera case probably helped the most. The one I use was purchased when I got my first digital camera. (I'm now on camera #4.) Despite having a couple of other camera cases, I keep using this one. I was advised when I bought it to get the most padded one available. Good advice!

Was this a school exercise? I took a theatre class in high school and we did some group acting sessions outside if the weather was co-operating. They seemed to enjoy themselves, except for a few of the boys who seem to be, at best, tolerating their situation.
