When ever I visit Castles, Palaces or Fortresses, the one thing I always enjoy is when the tour finally leads to the kitchens. I wish I had a picture of the kitchen in Neuschwanstein where there was the largest kitchen island I have ever seen! There was also a brick bread oven and an alcove with a BBQ spit for chickens. I could have stayed in there for hours to examine everything but they of course rush you out to the gift shop. Great photos Mich! Thanks so much for satisfying my curiosity about Neuschwanstein in more was than I could have imagined - about the kitchen...was that because no photos were allowed? Looking forward to more soon! The food looks terrific - would I guess right if I said veal with madagscar pepper sauce and noodles and second photo, schnitzel with kartoflen?

Yes Tod, exactly, no photos allowed. I did see some people trying to take them discreetly but we respected the guides request.
Not veal but pork, the peppercorn sauce was delicious! and the spatzle noodles are my favourite. I have made the pork with a peppercorn sauce twice since being home.
Thank you htmb! The one thing we found difficult was finding a good sausage! Most restaurants served more of a hot dog type sausage that were quite greasy, we gave up but there were many other delicious items to choose from. My husband had a pork knuckle one night, he really liked that.
