We drove the famous Trollstigen ("Troll's Ladder"), a serpentine road of hairpin turns that climbs up a steep mountainside. At the top of the road, about 2800 feet (852 meters) above sea level, is a series of viewing platforms that look down on the road and the magnificent valley. By the way, Norway's infrastructure is probably the best I've ever seen. The roads are always in impeccable shape (when they're open for the season), which is reassuring when you're driving on a narrow road to dizzying heights. We walked along Gudbrandsjuvet, a beautiful ravine that the Valldøla River runs through. The pounding waters have carved little arches and sinuous curves into the rock. Our last day of the trip, we hiked the Romsdalseggen ridge. It was quite challenging but the spectacular views were worth it. Luckily we had a clear and sunny day. At the top, we had a little picnic lunch with our view. Some clouds eventually started to gather, but it was still gorgeous. We saw a lone paraglider soaring overhead. I can only imagine how stunning his view was. (I'll pass, though.) And that was the end of our trip. Glad we went out on a high note.

OMG, I can't imagine the paraglider's view being any more stunning than yours was.

Your picnic area would qualify for the "Moss, lichen and fungus" thread in Image Bank as well. Beauty all around.

*standing applause!*
Wow, what a trip and what a trip report! Just too beautiful.
Some questions, please: 1) Is that glass in the section behind you in the 1st pic, #60? 2) Are you all as close to the edge (gulp) as you seem in the 4th & 5th pics? and 3) What made you decide to go to Norway? (after your report, everyone will want to go!)

It's all beautiful and obviously you have a head for heights! I don't think I would step out on that viewing platform.

Thanks for reading, everyone. Some questions, please: 1) Is that glass in the section behind you in the 1st pic, #60? 2) Are you all as close to the edge (gulp) as you seem in the 4th & 5th pics? and 3) What made you decide to go to Norway? (after your report, everyone will want to go!) 1) Yes, that is glass. At least the floor wasn't glass; that would have been really scary. 2) No, I think there was a few feet of safe ground there. I'm no daredevil. I could never do something like this: www.amazingplacesonearth.com/trolltunga-odda-norway/3) It was actually my brother-in-law's idea and he invited us to come. He had been to Norway briefly once before and wanted to explore it in depth. I was happy to tag along and it was very freeing to not have to plan the trip. Figuring out efficient driving routes and whatnot is not my strong point.
