Hello all, I'm new to Any Port (I was referred by a Lonely Planet forum member) and I'm hoping this might be an appropriate place to share some of my (limited but growing) travel experience and videos that I've been working on. I'm already very impressed with the content and the overall "vibe" of this forum, and hope that I can meaningfully contribute to it. If any of you feel that what I'm contributing isn't appropriate for this forum, please let me know, as I'm not trying to solicit or annoy - rather I'm looking for somewhere to share my efforts and travel experiences with people who may actually be interested. Thanks again - any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I thought I'd test the waters with my most recent video. It's the final part of a 3 part "mini-series" I made of my recent travels in France that documents my trip from Paris to Normandy, and the experience and impact that visiting some of the incredibly powerful WW2 landmarks can have. I hope you enjoy it, and again, I'd appreciate any feedback on whether or not I'm in the right place with this

It's the perfect place to post it, and I'm sure that we're all glad that you have joined us! The video is excellent.
The tunnel you took is the ultra expensive A14 rip off tunnel. Just so long as you learned your lesson! I'm sure you noticed there is not much traffic on that section.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! I've got 2 other videos from France (which I'll post below), and several more in the works that I'll be sure to share as I finish them.
This one shows the highlights of a day spent wandering around the grounds/gardens at the Palace of Versailles, as well as a bit of the Palace itself. I'm sure it's nothing new for most of you - I tried to add some extra excitement by including some footage of my first time ever driving in a major European city. A lot different from Canada...

And finally, a brief synopsis of our first time visiting Paris. The day was a bit of a whirlwind, as we wanted to see as much of the city as we could during the limited time we had. It was more about experiencing the flavour of the city as a whole rather than attempting to get too in depth in any particular area. I definitely wish I had done more filming... On the plus side though, we ended up having a great day, and now have a better idea of what the city has to offer and are that much more keen for our next visit.

Yes, we definitely want to see more. Don't hesitate to post about other countries as well, because all of us are avid travellers or at least former travellers.

Beautiful videos. You didn't seem to like your Illy dispenser coffee. Usually I find Illy pretty good, even from a machine...
My only slight quibble is that sometimes I find your soundtracks with lyrics a bit distracting from the powerful visuals. I like the music.
I don't drive, but I'd definitely suggest people renting a car to leave it in a suburb near a RER station and take the commuter train into the city. A car is an annoyance in Paris - where there is excellent public transport, if overburdened during the rush hour.
And if you have time, especially at your age I'd suggest to just walk and walk. Paris is compact for such a big city, and you can walk major stretches of it, swapping out to buses and the métro if you get tired, or stopping for a coffee, or glass of beer or wine, depending on the hour and your preferences.
Did you see any neighbourhoods, other than your boat excursion and the Tour? You'll find a lot of photo and video reports on this site.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! And you definitely raise a good point lagatta - my experience so far is that finding the right music is one of the most difficult parts of the entire process, as it can have such a profound impact on the overall feel or effect of the video. I'm constantly searching for good music to use (and am always open to suggestions!), so I appreciate your comment. On our day we spent in Paris, we didn't try to drive anywhere. We just parked up at the beginning of the day, trained in to the city center, and hoofed it for the day - stopping to sample many fantastic pastries and beverages whenever we needed a break. We started near Cathedral Notre Dame and wandered/zig-zagged down the river, with the Eiffel Tower being our last (and most chaotic) stop. Probably a fairly popular route for tourists? We definitely appreciated how relatively close everything was, as it made it possible to experience - if only briefly - a fair amount in one day. And as I mentioned before, it definitely whetted our appetite to spend more time getting to know the city, as we found it hard to get much more than an overview in one day. I've noticed there's an incredible wealth of knowledge and content about Paris here - I'm sure I'll be armed to the teeth for my next visit Oh, and the coffee scene was actually a bit of editing trickery... The Illy coffee I found to be pretty decent - the coffee I was actually drinking in the car was from a different stop later on. Perhaps not very fair to Illy, but I thought it made for more interesting video... You called me on my bluff
