Andry Rajoelina became the transitional president of Madagascar today after the resignation of President Marc Ravalomanana.

He is currently 34 years old and was elected mayor of the capital Antananarivo in 2007. Previously, from 1994 to 2000, he was a disco event organizer and DJ. Then he created an advertising company and also owns a television and radio station.

I read this last night and wondered what possessed him to put on that pink lipstick.

There is a plexiglas or metal panel behind the driver on all the city & between-towns buses around here. This is always ornamented with some kind of large decal, Jesus being the most popular subject. The one today on the bus returning from the market featured Tweety Bird in a business suit and with his beak an odd shade of pink. I instantly though of President Andry.
