Nice, organic, locally-grown and not too big. Only two of the purple ovid ones, but at least a dozen of the long yellow fellows. I'm going to simply brush purple guys, sliced, with olive oil and grill them. Ideas for their little yellow friends? No sweet cakes please.

I would have added onions and tomatoes and made ratatouille.

Good idea; I think I'll do that.

Agreed, and don't forget the garlic and basil!

Done, and while the garlic is local, the basil is "microlocal", from my balcony! I also have microlocal oregano. Actually, I haven't cut the basil yet; I'll only put it in when I serve it. We have excellent vegetables around here in season, but the season is so short. I did it in my small countertop convection oven, which makes a very solid, "confit" type ratatouille. It would probably be too hot and too expensive for the energy with a full-sized oven, unless one is baking several things.

The ratatouille was a big success. I was afraid it wouldn't get eaten, but all but a portion for me tonight disappeared. I still have some little courgettes.

Yes, they gobbled it up. Despite all the sweet corn.

I find videos like this completely hypnotic. You can activate English subtitles.

That ratatouille pie looks delicious but I don't think I could slice the vegetables so thin without a machine. Even my kitchen knives are not sharp enough.

Me neither. And I would have to move half of the ingredients to another room before assembly because they would not all fit in my kitchen.

I made a much simpler ratatouille today; it was and remains delicious, with very fresh produce.
