This year I was unable to go to the annual Jazz Age Lawn Party on Governors Island. So in my wistful state, I will share a few photos I took while I attended last year. Unlike the time before, I did not come alone. I had my friend, my sister, and their respective husbands and kids in tow, as well as my husband. It was nice to go with a group of people who were into the spirt of things (with the exception of my husband, who came with reluctance). It was a beautiful June day and the vintage lovers turned out in droves. This guy may or may not have been a pro. It's hard to tell because members of the press often dress up like everyone else. I remember the prior year when I came solo, toting a Canon, some people assumed I was a fashion blogger or something, which was embarrassing because it led to them trying to get my attention. When I approached this chic young lady to take her picture, she in turn asked to be photographed with my husband. Sure, why not...

Your husband is still seeing Reluctance? So broad-minded of you to allow it! Great pics -- you could be a fashion blogger. I'm fascinated by some of the women's dresses which probably aren't really vintage, but with an accessory or two they've totally pulled off the look. Everyone seems to be having fun.

Great pics -- you could be a fashion blogger. Thanks- although they should have been able to tell I was an amateur due to the fact that I was getting a little tipsy. Nycbaby will need her own vintage outfit for next June! You read my mind!

Better & better, NYCGirl! So many wonderful portraits here. You and your beautiful sister both have 1000 megawatt smiles. Isn't your friend from San Francisco your Alice in Wonderland friend?
Love your darling nephew's sporty jazz-age outfit.
I see you did wind up having more than one dancing picture -- the very good one of the couple just above the group of pics with the piano and the parasol. Your sister's filter works beautifully on the couple right after your comment on the filters. The two little beach boys, one with the straw katie & the other with the newsboy cap, make a great picture. Wonderful, fun thread!

Time to go. I snapped a few more photos on the way to the ferry. One of these days I should really explore the island on a regular day. It is quite pretty. Heading back to 21st century Manhattan. It wasn't my husband's cup of tea and he declared that he's not going back. He said he'd rather just go to Central Park and I can go dressed up if I want to. That's ok, I'll tote my daughter along with me in the future. Until next time...
