The attitude of those posing for photographs reminds me of the Goths I took pictures of in Germany a few years ago. They are obviously happy to be asked and strike a pose.

Such fun to view vicariously and obviously the participants were really enjoying the event. Fab photos.

I think my other comment got buried back somewhere in the thread, so I'll just say again how much I've enjoyed this report and how much I admire the way you captured the participants.
This is particularly fun for me, since I don't at all care to costume, but enjoy the efforts and accompanying pleasure of those who do.

I’m feeling very confused right now. I just passed an adult witch in the Marais. Kind of the goth type. Long black cape and dress. Wild teased up hair. She fell in behind me as I came out of a shop, so I didn’t get as good a look as I’d have liked. I’m not sure if she was a carry-over from your comic con group, was getting an early jump on Halloween, or if this was just her typical garb for the week.

The Marais is about the only area in Paris that celebrates Halloween. My own perplexity took place in a Hema store a little while ago. They devote about 25% of the store to seasonal events (Valentine's Day, Easter, etc.). Recently they were of course full of Halloween stuff but now almost all of that has disappeared to be replaced by their Christmas junk. Made me check the date! It is quite certain that Christmas pulls in much more money than Halloween and if sales were particularly bad this year for the Halloween crap, I can imagine that they just said the hell with it.

So, I should expect more costumed lovelies? They’d better have their umbrellas along with them.
The cashier at the Monop wished me a "bon-ah-low-when.” Took me a minute.
