A super group, it is remarkable that you still have these reunions after all this time. Those teen and early twenties years seem to implant the deepest memories, suppose it is a period of rapid development and deep learning.
Thanks for sharing these memories with us.

Thank you all for your kind words.
What book, Bixa? Is it "the River"? I have heard fine things about this book, but have not yet read it.
Kerouac, While training we were treated in ways that would not be legal today. Bullying, shaming us in front of patients or other staff, being punished for trivial offences, over-worked every shift etc. We must be in bed by 9.30pm unless you had a 'late pass' for 11pm.(and every room was checked to make sure) When we were grieving a lost patient, specially a child, or had a gutful of the above hierarchy we wept while our buddies brought cups of tea, shoulder massages and hugs and enabled us get on with the job. A senior doctor once told us that as a nurse " you will laugh, you will cry, you will swear, but you will never be bored" How true.
Since then 2 of our group have died of cancer, 2 have been widowed and 2 are nursing husbands terminally ill. Yes, we still cry together.

That's what I thought -- but it came to mind simply because the photos show you all so happy.

It's the happy photos that get us through the crying times. Anyway, no-one likes to have their pic taken when they're weeping.

As they used to tell us. "You shouldn't have joined if you can't take a joke"

Breaking news. My group of nurse-friends have chosen to meet in my Adelaide in the last week, next February. The Festival Fringe starts the following week and the place will be hopping with free entertainment and all decorated up. We have chosen to stay in the centre of town in a quiet(er) street, walking distance from everything. More to follow, I'm sure.

I am in awe of the spic 'n span state of the old settler homes and their surroundings. Marvelous. Also the number of stalls - quite a lot by our standards.

I remember seeing an extremely similar market -- also unrealistically priced -- up north in (where was it?) .... (still thinking) .... Kuranda.
