How on earth does Melania walk in those heels?

Trump's descriptions of the mayors of London and New York this morning have already whirled around the globe several times.

How on earth does Melania walk in those heels? From long use, her Achilles’ tendons are permanently shortened. It probably hurts to wear flats.

From the Guardian's report on the Trumps' arrival: "The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall greeted the presidential couple. The Trumps then walked together to meet the Queen, who was waiting on the palace steps, and the first lady did an excellent job of aerating the lawn with her spiked high heels."

I love details like this. I'm quite sure that the POTUS can eat a cheeseburger faster than the queen. The only question will be how many he can swallow before she finishes hers.

I saw a picture of her walking over to asshole. Why was he not standing on the pavement? Dumkopf on the grass looked like those stupid baby turkeys who drown staring up at the rain. This column made me laugh: www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2019/jun/03/trump-windsor-state-visit-queenEdited to add that I didn't see Kerouac's post until after posting mine. The details of formal dining were surely explained to toletface, weren't they? He probably paid as much attention as he does to other expert briefings.

Did I hear that Trump patted the Queen on the back as part of his toast? Isn’t that a big no-no?

For some reason I can't access the Guardian, a paper I at least glance at every day. Bizarre. And I had to log back in here.

The protests against Trump's visit are everywhere...he's endorsed Boris for PM, also Jeremy Hunt...I hate them both. If either get in then the NHS is doomed...
Trump is also saying that a post Brexit trade deal would include the NHS...I don't know what he means by that. If it's trading for medicine and sharing technological advances etc then that's ok isn't it?

I fear that is NOT what he means. No reason US and UK health professionals can't do that now, and I'm sure they are. I'm terrified of that because we are just north of them. Already people from Vermont and northern NY State buy medicine here because it is so much more expensive in the US. I don't know about Hunt, but Boris strikes me as a buffoon.
Some of the fundie nuts in the US are threatening doctors here... Oh, we have our own fundie nuts, but they are less empowered.

I just read this wonderful comment in response to an opinion piece in the Guardian. The part in quotes is from the article:
“You spend a lifetime cringing at Prince Philip insulting people, and the one time you want him to, he’s retired.”
God that was my first thought. I sooo wished Phil would have been there and smacked Trump on the head with a silver tray and shouted, “Got it! That bloody ginger cat keeps sitting on my head too!”

Trump isn’t used to anyone actually noticing his suit because they are too distracted by his excessively long neckties.
Doesn’t have that cover with a tux and bow tie.

And how many Republicans are going to say, "Yes, of course. Nasa has been wrong all this time."?

In Trump’s garbled stream of consciousness spewing, it is possible that what he was trying to say is that returning to the moon, or using the moon’s gravity to accelerate a spacecraft toward Mars, would be a step in the process of Americans getting to Mars?
I hate the guy, but I think the critics might be a little too critical this time....

I think the critics were harsh because of the attack on the concept of reality.

I just looked up Ivanka Trump's background. So she has a Bachelor's degree in economics. How does this qualify her to sit in on talks with the Chinese premier and to be alongside her father on his international trips?
The only explanation I can come up with is that maybe she is smarter than her father so she remembers what is said and then explains it to him in simple words.
And Jared Kushner with his useless Middle East Peace Plan? These people are like the Mafia -- keeping it in the family.

Not to mention his adoration of dictators. Positively cuddling up to MBS and the Saudi regime, after North Korea.

Now that Trump has a new best friend in North Korea, I'm becoming impatient for him to make friends with Iran.

He won't do that while siding with MBS. Even my Iranian refugee friends (successful professionals now) agree that KSA is far worse.

Trump is not going to make friends with Iran as long as John Bolton and other hawks have his ear.

If there were a revolution in Saudi Arabia (unfortunately not very likely) some of these people would turn their coats so fast that it would make our heads spin.
