I don't think he was even wondering that. I think he was wondering how long it would take to get to the golf course.

Losing facial expressions, not being aware of what is going on around them, saying the incorrect words and forgetting names of people and things are early signs of Parkinson's Disease. There are medications that stop the tremors from being apparent in the early months, but inappropriate behaviour is a give away.
Just sayin'...

I don't think he was even wondering that. I think he was wondering how long it would take to get to the golf course. Without doubt. Losing facial expressions, not being aware of what is going on around them, saying the incorrect words and forgetting names of people and things are early signs of Parkinson's Disease. There are medications that stop the tremors from being apparent in the early months, but inappropriate behaviour is a give away. Hopefully that is not the case, but something to watch for and consider.

With Trump it would be difficult to know whether his inappropriate behaviour is linked to illness or just to his general stupidity. After all, he has been behaving inappropriately for years now.

I got up early to watch all 5 hours of the Mueller testimony.
Both sides got in their licks, but Mueller, cagey attorney that he is, refused to say anything beyond what was in the report, even declining to read from the report. He’s apparently unwilling to have footage of his testimony that could be used by either side’s campaign commercials.
He did however have a “senior moment” that may haunt him - and us - for a long time. While explaining that “collusion” was not a legal term, he had aphasia and could not come out with the word “conspiracy” for a horrifyingly long time. It’s happened to all of us, forgetting a word, but I bet the GOP won’t let anyone forget about it in this case. I hope they don’t use it to impugn his work as special prosecutor.
BTW, in the first hearing he compared collusion and conspiracy without problems. But video is forever...

Coincidentally, Kimby, a friend called me today after the testimony was over. During our discussion I could not for the life of me find the word "impeach" in my brain, and finally had to say "that thing you do when you want to get rid of a president". Thank god this was with someone I know and not recorded for posterity!

I watched media coverage on two or 3 channels and was relieved that the clips shown were not of Mueller’s stumbles, but of his answers to important questions. (I did not watch Fox News, however, no cable).
It appears the high regard for the entirety of Robert Mueller’s public service and military career and integrity had caused them to treat him with kid gloves.
However a Trump-supporting friend who DOES drink the Fox Koolaid posted a video on his Facebook page that I haven’t gotten up the nerve to look at yet. From the caption, I know it won’t be pretty.

Yeah, because it's so easy to be in the hot seat for seven straight hours. Classic conservative asshole (sorry, redundant) reaction to anything requiring attention, background information, or intelligent judgment -- mock it with ignorant yahoo laughter.

If he is being supported by the Koch brothers and others like that, I fail to see what they are getting out of it. Even they must realize that pulling out of international treaties is stupid and having allies can come in useful. Trump is beyond the pale -- can nobody rein him in, break his thumbs?
I know he is surounded by secret service people all the time, but couldn't one of them turn on him, like Indira Ghandi's bodyguards did?
As much as I like the term "pillock", it's definitely not strong enough.

I have to agree with you, bjd. Mick is a gentleman of the old school and his language of contempt skills have been sorely neglected
Come on, Mick! It is like karate...you have to think yourself totally contemptuous of this grub, a waste of good oxygen and a boil on the bum of humanity. Now, half shrug your shoulders, lean forward a tad and half close your eyes in a venomous squint. Stare at the object of your loathing (or a reasonable facsimile of same)and when you are ready,, hiss through your teeth, "YOU.....!!" I don't know what word you use, but I suspect it won't be "pillock". For advanced tutorial assignment, just hang about with the Aussie cricket team this week.

That is an old phrase, but a good one. Perhaps it is normal for conservatives to be the ones improving ties with a dynastic-Stalinist regime, as nobody will accuse them of being "soft on Communism", but what he is doing doesn't even make sense from the standpoint of a business-oriented government. I wonder if he even realises that this can lead to wars...

Perhaps he is planning on taking over North Korea. I'm sure that a country full of (overly) disciplined slave labourers appeals to him enormously. He could trade Puerto Rico for it.

Well, he keeps saying that if more people are armed, this will be stopped immediately. Texas is one of the most armed states in the country, so maybe his reasoning is not entire infallible.

That was the news I went to bed with last night, as The Guardian broke the news earlier than the US papers. Sickening in and of itself, but even more sickening in how quickly it will pass into the giant pile of shootings the US keeps accumulating. A paragraph from that news story: A man who had been at a store in the mall nearby told KTSM that he had heard gunshots and taken out his own gun as he ran towards the parking lot. He said police had briefly questioned him, thinking he was the shooter. Oh great -- the new normal. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/aug/03/el-paso-shooting-texas-walmartI don't know about the rest of the world, but the US seems trapped in acting out everything as a grand reality show. Crazy gunmen issue "manifestos". Candidates seize tragic moments to advance their campaigns. People shamelessly star in "destination weddings" which cost a fortune. Everyone is eager to interviewed by the press to spotlight his/her moment in history. I guess it's hateful to notice this, but even very young people seem ready with sound bites: “It was very triggering,” Jazmin Salas told KTSM news. The teenager said she felt like she could not trust anyone. “There are crazy people everywhere.” Triggering? WTF does that even mean? Sorry -- I'm disgusted and ranting.
