Oh, I like that very, very much, Mick! I can imagine that it's a work you'll never tire of seeing.

I quite like it too Mick. I have looked at it a few times and see something new each time.

It really is lovely. I have collected a number of these over the years but they are mostly in my daughter's house now and not easy to photograph. But I will try! Here is a Tamara Lempicka plate we bought in Spain - We bought this (and another similar picture)direct from the artist in Marbella some years ago - These two were retirement present to my father over 40 years ago -

I love all of these, the plate and the second pic most especially.
You are right, the photos really don't do them much justice.
I imagine they are much more stunning than the photos portray.

Not being an ace photographer like Bixa and Kerouac I do find it difficult to reproduce them as they really look.

The glare from plated glass is always a challenge even for seasoned photographers.
I'm sure there are some tricks but I don't know what they are.

Nice stuff. The flash never helps for shots like that. It is often better to go flashless and then tweek the photo by brightening it after the fact.

Buddha shelf - Art deco thermometer -

Nice.
We have a collection of Buddhas but they are not all in one place but scattered throughout different parts of the house.
My husband moves them around so I never know where one particular one might find himself.
Is the thermometer an authentic art deco or an attempt at replication?

Authentic.
There is a shop near my sister in law full of authentic items (mostly too expensive for us) and she bought that for Mrs Cactus birthday last year.

Nice.
Just out of curiousity, how would one go about authenticating a piece such as this?
I ask, because I have a Russian icon that was purchased in Istanbul at the Grand Bazaar. My friend bought it and she had to get a certificate to take it out of the country.
She gave it to me years later on my 50th birthday as she knew I lusted after it.
I have always questioned it's actual authenticity for some reason. Actually I do know why. I bought a sapphire ring (also in Istanbul) which come to find out was not a real sapphire. I felt really stupid to have allowed myself to be duped so easily.

Because of my work connections I can always take to various appraisers who could do it.

At this moment, I have nothing at all on my walls. I'm trying to decide if I want to continue living with virginal white walls or try to pound screws into them so I can mount stuff. I wish I hadn't lost all my photographs during Katrina.

You could try leaning framed pictures on furniture against walls -- save you putting in screws.

An old friend who recently moved away gave me this wonderful print ~ Trying for less glare ~ Here he is admiring himself ~ You can see I like things reflecting other things ~

Well then, lean them on the wall but standing on the floor. Only works for stuff that's framed, of course.

For now, I think I might just enjoy the "zen effect" of having nothing but blank walls. I might not like the things I used to have hanging up in my old apartment anymore.
I could charge admission and show movies on the walls, though!

I need to retake my pictures.
Just discovered a new Canadian artist Emily Carr, whose best work was in the '30's and would go well with Fall of the Leaf. Check her out.
I have quite a few other items in my daughter's house too as I have no room for them.

It only looks complicated because every step is written out. Once you do it you will see that it's pretty cut and dried.

Really, Mick, Bixa has done an awesome job making a way to get our pictures back and slaying the evil Pbucket. I have only done a few pics but after 3-4 I 'got it'. All I need is time now...
