Unlike Fumobici, I don't know where that first statue is located so all I can do is guess. Indeed somewhere Central/Latin American. Seeing the green& yellow shop, I thought of Cuba, as well as the picture of El Che in the picture just above.

I wasn't really sure at all, and, still am not but, ditto on what BJD posted, I guessed Cuba.
Also, Mich's response kind of gave me an inkling she knew and based on her trip there recognized
some landmarks or terrain.
And, the intermittent wifi etc.
In any event, I am looking forward to some fantastic reportage.

Cuba could be it. The hilss would be the 'Mogotes' in the west of the island. Close to Vinales if my memory doesn't fail me.
I guess we'll get a great report and surely before I write mine on Argentina.
