At least two Anyporters will be in Paris at the same time in June of this year. Thus, a meet-up is proposed. The available dates would be between the 15th and the 20th. Please put on your thinking caps, rev up your travel search engines, and post your feedback here!
A calendar to help you think ~

Normally I am there every Tuesday. So 19 ? I'll come with Waterloo beer. French know the 18 of June 1940 when De Gaulle told over the radio war was not over but yes Belgians celebrate the victory of Wellesley over napoleon. According to French he was a Corsican.

Would the 19th work for others as well?

Oh Wow!!
I cannot commit at this time but, am not ruling it out as a possibility.
I would need some assistance with transportation advice and do have someone, maybe another that could assist.
My main issue is accomodations of which someone may be able to assist me having lived in Paris for a number off years.
TBC... A most exciting prospect.
Thanks for the advance heads up!

I slept in about 250 hotels mostly in Paris. I can recommend some places if you tell me what you like (in no go zone like 18 arr or in posh hotels).
What I am not familiar with are apartments illegally rented for tourists who want to be close to the main attractions with a washing machine for your clothes and a concierge who speaks only English ;-). But I don't think we are in this kind of forum !

Curses, foiled again! We're leaving France June 7 so will have to miss this. I hope those across the Channel will be able to make it plus everybody who lives in France (bjd, kerouac, and maybe others?) and Germany (rikita and family and perhaps others?). I see that Belgium will be ably represented and I hope Amboseli can also be part of this. I'm sure to have left out some Europeans; sorry. You're sure to have a fabulous time.
Casimira, I hope you can go! Tod?
Now, everybody, take lots of photos for us stay-at-homes.

Would love to be there! But, we do not have any vacation time allotted for June. I will be eager to learn of all who is able to attend and some reporting afterwards!

But it is a top secret meeting with a confidentiality clause!

I have a wedding of a sister-in-law to attend in Germany at that time. Plus my daughter's home schooling exams in the same city. So it means I am close, but not close enough.

Drat, Mich ~ drat drat drat!
And some drats for Breeze and Mark, too. The fact that you all will be so close yet so far away makes not seeing you at the meetup even more bitter.
I'm hoping that all of you, whether able to attend or not, will draw this thread to the attention of others. There are people who seldom check in or who just lurk here and there, yet are still Anyporters.

How far east does the TGV est go now? I thought it reached at least one major German city, perhaps Frankfurt.
I have no idea whether I'll be in Europe then. It is possible, but far from certain... But I see that my apias avatar is already on your Paris image. Is he pigeon taunting her and shitting on her head?
Hotel definitely in a (fake) no-go zone (preferably the 19th or north of the 20th, as I have meat-world friends there). I wouldn't mind a flat with a washing machine, but it really isn't important; laundrettes exist in Paris.

The TGV-Est goes to Frankfurt and Stuttgart for sure. The Thalys goes to Cologne...

That pigeon is there to show what could happen to your avatar if you don't make it to the meet-up.

Questa, if you, Tod, and Mark were all to come, who would win title of having come the furthest?

Tod is south of me so I'd not be the one.

I'll be cycling in the Alsace at that time. We plan on visiting Monet's Gardens in Giverny somewhere in May/June but the weather will decide when exactly. Wishing you lots of fun and laughter on your GTG.

Let's see...Adelaide to CDG 20,038 miles or 32248 km. Unless someone gave me a 1st class ticket, I'd never make it.

It should be pointed out that even if the current SNCF staggered strike continues after this month (highly unlikely since the number of strikers is diminishing every day), Eurostar and Thalys services are not affected since they are not operated by the SNCF. The SNCF owns 55% of Eurostar and 62% of Thalys but the employees are not at all SNCF employees -- and are therefore not on strike.

Let's see...Adelaide to CDG 20,038 miles or 32248 km. No, Mark, that is ONE WAY, direct, as-the-crow-flies. leg-cramping, claustrophobia inducing, DVT causing, jet-lagging one way.
First non-stop scheduled flight from Australia to Britain lands after 17 ... www.theguardian.com/.../first-non-stop-flight-australia-britain-lands-17-hours-... Mar 25, 2018 - Qantas flight QF9 makes history as it arrives at Heathrow, London, after a direct journey from Perth, Western Australia. It takes 5 hours to go Sydney to Perth anyway

You see, what I don't get is that the circumference of the earth is more or less 40,000km, so I cannot imagine why you would need 32,000 for one way. Even if I check flight distances I still only come up with roughly 16,000km. You'd have to do some really big diversions to come up with 32,000km to get from ADL to CDG.

Eurostar have been cutting up to 6 trains each way because of these strikes.
