The new airport at Bangkok has to be the best for relaxation...they have a huge area near the departure gates for massage. You can lie back in comfy chairs with your feet up and have a leg and foot massage whilst putting in time waiting for your flight. Most people fall asleep.

We always leave plenty of time for the journey to the airport.
A couple of years ago I was flying to England on my own. I set out early, drove down the hill to the main road in the valley, went about a kilometre and was flagged down by a gendarme. 7.15 a.m. was a bit early for a breathalyser test, I thought. But it wasn't that. The road ahead was closed because a truck had overturned. But I'm going to Carcassonne airport to catch a plane. Too bad, the gendarme said and walked off, living up to their tough guy reputation. I had to turn round and do a huge detour and just made it to the airport. The moral: better to sit in the departure lounge than in your car watching your flight take off.

I've always wondered about those people who check in, their bags are put on the plane, you all board...... and then they don't turn up. What are they doing?
I've also seen someone, usually a couple, at the check in desk and then after you've all boarded the plane you end up waiting ten or fifteen minutes after your slot time for them to be found and embark.

Oh yeah forgot. Went through Bangkok airport several times when I was living in Manila. I always hoped I got at least a couple of hours transit time so I could go for a meal and a foot massage.

I changed planes at Bahrein once. We were seated on the connecting flight when an announcement came over the speaker system: This flight is nonstop to Bangkok. The message was repeated twice. Finally a man got up and left the aircraft. How had he got on in the first place? How had he found a seat?

well i guess part of the reason i don't like hanging out in airports is that i am slightly uncomfortable about flying. not really scared, but well, i just don't like it that much... the other reason is that a lot of the flights i take seem to be too early for me. and when i haven't slept enough and am a bit stressed and all i feel sick. so i often sit there, unable to eat, feeling sick...
