The new spire of the cathedral is now in place. Howeer, for the moment it is still covered in scaffolding.

Fifth anniversary of the fire, and the repairs are nearing completion. Reopening is still scheduled for December 8th. The fact that the schedule was respected is amazing when you factor in the two years of covid-19.

It’s amazing to think of all the coordination it’s taken to keep this project running smoothly. One example for me - a real treat - was seeing some of the Notre Dame rugs/tapestries that were being repaired at Gobelins.

It is remarkable that so much survived ,the work that has taken place since and the spend of 1 billion dollars ( did I hear that correctly) is well justified in my view
