A very popular place on a fine day, although the joggers and baby minders are normally there as long as the weather is kind. I always get the feeling that it is mainly locals, being stuck out in the 19th doesn't attract the tourists or the posher classes. Thanks for this glimpse of my favourite Paris park

There were no joggers this afternoon -- too crowded to run!

What an amazing crowd! Looks like they were all enjoying the wonderful weather and having a respite from all the worries of the world.

Lovely photos - I've never been to Buttes Chaumont next time in Paris for sure.

The Buttes Chaumont were closed Monday and Tuesday (Feb 13-14) when the gardeners came across body parts in a bag, hidden in the compost. The police searched everywhere and finally came up with the other parts as well as sufficient clues to identify the victim. It was a woman from the northern suburbs, missing for 10 days.

How horrible! Those poor gardeners must be traumatized. And not only was a human life taken, all the people who innocently enjoyed the park last week must be shaken.

What gets me is that unless there was some symbolic reason for using the park, why scatter a corpse all around it? If I had body parts in garbage bags and wanted to get rid of them, I would use trash bins out on the street, hidden under people's domestic trash bags. This probably means that killers do not have normal thought processes.

Gruesome. The older I get the less I like human beings (aside from a few lovelies like yourselves of course)

Just as a follow up: the husband has confessed.

Getting rid of the body is about the most difficult thing in a murder. Very few of us have succeeded.

The husband had an argument with his wife, necessitating that he strangle her. Then he cut her into pieces in the kitchen. Since he doesn't have a car, he made several trips on the bus with his market cart to dispose of the body. There are any number of parks he could have used closer to home, but the Buttes Chaumont is his favourite park, so he has something in common with a few members of Anyport.

I’d wondered how he’d transported the body parts. The whole story is terribly gruesome.

The whole story is terribly gruesome. Wait until it's made into a movie.

Nice update. Looks like Spring is making similar progress there as it is here, much further South.
