One of the things it said was to eat small meals such as salad. On our 100f day last week I was watching cricket and had a chicken salad which was in the coolbag. It was quite noticeable how good I felt. The pint of cold beer I had with it may have helped....

The messages that we receive in France have reached the point of overkill. So many accusations flew in every direction after the heat wave deaths of 2003 that they are no longer taking any chances.

Much nicer hear after after a wind and rainstorm. Still hot (which I like) but less of that killer humidity that hurts my joints. Up early to do some tidying up in the cool early-morning air.

I saw that in central France the temperature got down to 0.9° in certain areas -- some of the same places where the nightly minimum was above 20° during the heat wave.

We're having a spate of summer rain storms. There has been some flooding. Being raised in GB we expect unpredictable weather but not extremes. We dont have the infrastructure in place to deal with extremes...
I dont mind the heat now that I'm retired but I dislike high humidity...like wading through treacle. With the air pollution on top I struggle with my asthma (and I only have the mild form)
