Just a few pics of the barn/cottage. Owner's house behind (green with envy) a few views inside I think that this banner/quilt depicts some of the characters from Dylan Thomas' Under Milk WoodGot loads more pics but the web is really slow so I'll have to load them another day... but...ooh...I love the owner's place

Don't crave the owner's place. Your own cottage is great.

Gorgeous place, gorgeous weather, gorgeous greenery ~ you all must be so satisfied!
The owner's place does look nice, but I really love your cottage, which seems cozy and comfortable.

Have a great holiday, and don't get envious of the owners place; the grass is always greener on the other side.

So lovely. Pembrokeshire is one of my favourite places in the UK. It has (I think) one of the most beautiful beaches in the world - Barafundle . Not sure if you have been there already Cheery...but if not maybe have a walk to it if you get chance . Looking forward to seeing more when you get chance .

Couple more.... ok...the grounds.. Driving along a single track road we came to the gate posts... the single track road carries on for another 100 twisty, turny yards.....the ground drops away on one side to a heavily oergrown gorge..there's a bank on the other side covered with ferns, moss and all sorts of trees, bushes and rocks... past the cottage and in front of the main house there is a small area of lawn..bordered by neatly trimmed bushes these line a steep bank that tumbles to the bottom of the gorge...a stream cuts through...and trees, bushes, ferns and dense undergrowrh rise up the other side. there are paths down to the bottom but they are too scary for me....the lawn curves around the back of the house and opens up on a large landscaped area...on one side there is the stream and the woods run alongside it...on the other side of the stream are the ruins of the old wool mill. the owners have made the area safe., there are lots of little streams converging on the mill (it had a water wheel but that is long gone) then the water pours out and along a deep channel into the gorge... the internet is still very slow here so I won't post any more today

This afternoon the owner was laying bark around some young trees that she was planting in a large green area alongside the private road...she's put in a monkey puzzle, a ginko and lots of magnolias....it's going to be amazing (in about 50 years time )

It looks like a nice place. I almost expect some hobbits there from your description of gorges, windy paths, old water mills...

*squeeeeal* They're both wonderful, but that bowl ~ ooooooo!
It looks as though you're in Merlin country, so lush and green. Are you afraid to go down to the bottom of the gorge because you might be enchanted?

Great ceramics and a bit of Mouseman.
We are hoping to visit Wales next year, Llyn Peninsula, and this has certainly impressed me.

The bottom of the gorge is pretty impenetrable, never mind the very steep (in places vertical) descent.

Beautiful Cheery, what a lovely holiday home. Looking forward to seeing your trips out too. Mick ..the Llyn peninsula is lovely too, although way north of Pembrokeshire of course, - there you are close to Snowdonia and Anglesey - so much to see and do - I don't think you will be disappointed if you do get there.

We didn't see any staff, saw Sara (owner) charging around on her sit on lawn mower. A couple of chaps help her with the grounds tho...one was clearing out one of the waterfalls that drain water from fields and woodland under the narrow road via a pipe and then down into the gorge. We saw them moving huge boulders and foliage in the bottom of the gorge to unblock the stream. Sarah has planted several trees too...including magnolias, flowering cherry trees, acers, a couple of ginko and even a Wollemi Pine! Still quite spindly..unlike the mature trees in the valley...two massive tulip trees caught my eye altho they weren't in flower. We went out every morning quite early. One day we went to Newgale beach, we visited it in 2011 but since our last visit the local authority have put down lots of pebbles to protect the sandbanks behind the beach which are full of wildlife, we saw lizards and big beetles there last time but as we had the dog with us this time we stuck to the seashore. arty-farty pic of water on the beach... Not much more to see..we spent a while watching the waves and walked as far along the beach as we were allowed to with the dog. Drove back to the cottage for tea. Sarah placed a bird feeding station about a 4 ft away from one of the windows as well as a small feeder ON the window...we saw several woodland, field and garden birds visiting...most were too fast moving for us to photograph...and the double glazed window didn't help! we saw bluetits, great tits, bullfinches, tiny coal tits, a bullfinch, chaffinches, willow or marsh tits...a pair of nuthatches (I'd never seen those before!), gold finches, robins and others I couldn't identify because they were so quick! sorry the photos aren't very clear. great tit and a male chaffinch blue tit Nuthatch (I was so excited to see this beautiful little bird) Jeff saw a jay too...and got a goodish pic, he also saw a kingfisher..I saw buzzards, and an owl (too dark to identify).

It's all so lovely!
I really like noble Django posing on the beach and the picture of the delicate designs left by the water on the sand. It must have been totally thrilling to be able to watch all those different kinds of birds up close, particularly since you're able to identify them.

Thrilled to see that there is more to this great thread, Cheery! I went back & looked at your other Wales thread, which includes super shots of the castle at Laugharne. This new thread is so different from the last one, as you're showing us different aspects of the area. I love how you take us wandering with you and all the architectural shots. Did doggy boy like traveling? Looking forward to more of your vacation.
