This is just Printemps for the moment, so there is a risk of more items being added in the future.

This is lovely! I do hope you’ll have time to capture more Christmas decorations. It’s very nice to see something pretty that seems to bring such joy to so many. We need extra joy these days! I love seeing the children up on the platform looking into the window. Very sweet!
One of the elves appeared to be holding a "He-Man" figure. I didn’t know those characters were still being made.

So beautiful!!! The makers of those little puppets are perfectionists. I wouldn't mind betting a lot of the sewing is by hand. So creative.

You’re probably right, tod. Do they still make The Hulk toys?

Marvel makes everything!
You will have to wait a bit for the Galeries Lafayette displays. I didn't want to make a video until I had been inside to see the Christmas tree, and I dragged myself in there today after the movie. So the material exists, but my oldest computer exploded again, and I have to stay away from it for a bit. (Actually, it just shuts off unexpectedly when it has heated up a bit, but nothing is lost. I was just starting on the video when the computer put an end to my plans and when I turn it on again, it will just ask me "do you want to restore the dumb video you were making?"
I must also report that even though it was said that the new Samaritaine would have Christmas windows, it was just a vicious lie. There is nothing of interest to children in that store anyway, so the windows have lovely displays of merchandise of interest to gold and platinum cards.

Many thanks for this snippet. Pity about Samaritaine but they know their market I suppose

In the old days, Samaritaine had the best Christmas windows because they had the Disney exclusivity bqck when only one major animated feature was released every year at Christmas. So they had windows about the movie with all of the characters doing whatever it was they did. Galeries Lafayette and Printemps were relegated to Barbie dream house windows, GI Joe (Action Joe in France) and a few dancing teddy bears.

As ever I really enjoy this annual thread , thanks K2 . Such a different Christmas this year to the last one - good to see people out and about and enjoying the sights. The lights outside the store are lovely.

I was not at all impressed by the windows of Galeries Lafayette. Of course the tree inside is always nice, but it is getting really repetitive.

Thank you! A beautiful theme this year. The last Primtemps window made me think of Peter Pan. I loved that the puppet was holding the perfume strips and I also liked the all the kitchen wares and tasty treats! We woke up this morning to our first snow, everything is brillant sparkling white outside so it made it extra special seeing this thread with all the beautiful photos and video.

Feels like my brain is now on cheesy, sparkly, gaudy display overload! Sometimes that’s a good thing, I suppose. Kerouac, has the GL tree always been suspended in the air in past years?
|
|
|
Post by kerouac2 on Nov 28, 2021 14:45:10 GMT
Yes, it is always suspended, at least as long as I have been paying attention to it. But I'm sure that in the old days they probably dragged in the biggest real tree that would fit through the freight doors and stuck it there in the middle on the floor.

It is certainly a spectacular tree, however I felt I wanted to push Father Xmas and that blue bunny out of the way. They didn't add anything to the tree and looked out of place IMO.

Here is a little trip through Paris on Christmas day. I am putting it here because there are two little elements of the BHV/Marais windows included.

Thanks. I am generally amazed at how fast I can make a video. The editing seems to happen in my head as I am recording images.

That’s the way most good photographers work. Many good writers, too, I’m guessing.

I found the video absolutely delightful and the music selected was perfect. Maybe, just maybe I will get there at Xmas time.
