Ray Porter has his own FB page, if you're interested Thanks Bixa - I will have a look. I'm sure you must have mentioned it at some point, but the fact that the Joseph Bridgeman novels are about time travel got past me. I did not, in fact looking back I really gave no info about the series but yes it is about time travel and really quite unlike anything I have read before

I have a wealth of blue grape hyacinth blooming but the white ones are lovely Mick and I have not seen them before. Following on from the theme of the various colours of bulbs , my bluebells are flowering now with both blue and white varieties, if this storm stops before they are decimated I will post a photo.

So I have finished Book 4 of the Joseph Bridgeman series and am eagerly awaiting Book 5. Ray Porter is an odd choice of narrator for what are books set in England but he rose to the challenge well and I stopped bothering about his American accent fairly soon into Book 1. Anyway all free so far but I would happily pay for Book 5 if needed.

That leads me to a question: When you all acquire ebooks, do you download & read it immediately, or leave lthem in your digital library until some future time? I download them asap if they are free and hope that they remain so....Audible can be a bit dodgy in this regard.

Shite here - extremely blowy and cool, with rain thrown in at unpredictable times. How I long for some solid warm sunshine. There has been no ( ok exageration) but very little ( no exageration) respite here from unrelentless rain.

Physically she seems to be okay, Lugg, but it may take awhile to recover from the emotional trauma. I can imagine Htmb - very tough for her and you all.

Bob the Lock mustsurely be acknowledged as an unsung hero
The last photos leave no doubt that you are in the Potteries , what confused me was the milestone marker to Litchfield...that cannot be correct can it ? But on checking I find it is or thereabouts . I don't know why but that really befuddled me .

Great info and additions Mark. The mix between bucolic and industrial is great. When I lived in Manchester the canals were part of the everyday routes, connections between footpaths and bridle ways . Here in Herefordshire there are only a few signs of the canal connecting Gloucestershire to this county. Much has been filled in . My neighbour is part of a trust which aims to open up some of the canal and I admire his commitment and enthusiasm . h-g-canal.org.uk/restoration/
