I am not expecting too much of this thread, but I am a massive fan of this form of motorsport. Generally very competative and with a few new faces this season.
I would imagine That Rossi would be a firm fave for the title but I have just snuck my pocket money on to Nicky Haden who has switched to Ducati this season.
Most noteable change off-season is that Michelin were effectively excluded from the sport and it is now a one tyre championship on Bridgestone rubbers.

I confess that I didn't even know there was a Grand Prix for motorcycles. I just hear about the Bol d'Or and the motorcycle 24h du Mans. Motorcycle racing seems more interesting to me than car racing, because it is more personal.

I started watching it around 4 years ago. There is plenty of overtaking and reasonably well matched bikes. It is down to rider skill mainly. They tend to run on the weekends in between F1 for the remainder of the year so as not to clash for TV rights. Its well worth a look, the opener for this season takes place on Sunday evening at I believe 9pm UK time. Eurosport have the rights as do BBC here.

Jerez de la Frontera this weekend. I would just so love to hop on a plane for the 2 1/2 hour flight to see the moto GP on Sunday but since it is a holiday weekend the prices are very high indeed. I will take Rossi from Stoner and Dovisioso this weekend.

I don't see anything about this in the 'normal' newspapers at all. I guess they must mention it in L'Equipe.

Valantino Rossi confirmed his God-like status by hunting down first the Ducati of Stoner and then Pedrosa's Honda and passing them. Ended up as a fairly comfortable win for "The Doctor" who now leads the championship.

Today witnessed the greatest finish to a MotoGP in all the 4 years I have been watching it. In Barcelona, Rossi overtook the local lad Lorenzo at the last corner of the last lap to win.
I suspect that the official footage will be removed from Utube by the rights holder almost immediately

Gee, it looks pretty inevitable that they will die young, or live a little longer in a wheelchair.

There are some strange minds there for sure. Both would rather crash than allow the other to win.
