Except that I had not spent hardly any time around that branch of the family.

Were they well known books ? And of course, the biggest question I have when people talk about books being a good indicator of a person etc. etc., is how do you know they've read them ? I have many books on my shelves that are thus far unread.

All my books are hollowed out with guns in them.

Mostly rather obscure titles, unless you are a nature lover... and many were reference books that aren't read so much as referred to.

I WANTED to be here. Just got distracted with picking up sea shells and watching wildlife. And running around in a bikini top and sarong till midnight - can't do THAT in Montana, even in July!

Ohhhhh ~~ sounds like you had a wonderful time. Were you on Sanibel? And have you returned to Montana?

Yes, two full weeks in tropical heaven.
We got a canoe and paddled with dolphins and manatees, rode bikes all over, watched a loggerhead turtle laying her eggs by the light of the full moon...
And when we got back to Montana we had a couple days of 80 degree weather to ease us back into the more typical cooler spring weather.

In the (future) news -
A man was arrested in the UK for 'wilful endangering life' by using a forged vaccination certificate to get a job in an old folks home where some of the residents were unable to be vaccinated due to medical reasons.
In the USA a man was shot dead by the mother of a baby when the covid denier deliberately coughed in the face of the baby saying "You'll be ok as covid doesn't exist." The mother was let off with a warning not to do it again and given an award by the USA equivalent of the General Medical Council.
Many European countries have signed up to the agreement that covid deniers will receive a minimum sentence of five years in prison.
The big five airlines have agreed to a scheme where anyone not vaccinated will not be allowed to board. Janet from Milton Keynes was the first to be refused and says she will take the airline in question to Court for denying her the human right to travel. Pepe, a Spanish national who was refused boarding in Madrid to fly to Frankfurt also has decided on legal action as being in the EU, he has the right to reside in Germany and says he was going home, after visiting his parents who were both in hospital with severe symptoms of the virus.
Mutation number three thousand five hundred and sixty seven has had the vaccine manufacturers scrambling to see if their permutable vaccine is just as effective on this as all the others without it needing to be tweaked.
PETA has declared that it objects to 'alleged' scientific evidence that the Covid virus originated in bats. They say it is highly unlikely the virus jumped from bats to humans because bats only come out at night when most humans are tucked up at home and in bed.
Brazil has said it is now Covid free as a fire at the main data holding facility destroyed all medical records for the entire population and if it isn't written down, it doesn't exist.
Investigations in South Africa have revealed none of the population has in fact been vaccinated. All the doses bought by the government and those donated by wealthier nations have been sold to developing countries. A placebo was used for the injections and the Prime Minister has said the allegations are fake news and false when he was speaking from his new Boeing Dreamliner jet before taking off from his own private island to deposit what he says are his 'savings' in a Panamanian bank. (Sorry Tod, not getting at you, just couldn't resist it.)
Donald (Teflon) Trump has eventually been convicted and sent to prison for the offence of having an offensive hairstyle.
That's all from your future correspondent for now. If anything else crops up, you'll read it here first.

From our America correspondent:-
Following the fourteenth school shooting this year the President has said his thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims but this is not the time to discuss gun control.

My own conviction is that soon people will stay in their own domicile -- to work, to live, to eat, to shop -- and hardly ever go out anymore. Everything will be delivered, electronically or through the front door. Delivery people will be the ruling caste, the only ones with knowledge of the outside world. I just noticed this in the thread "Predicting the Future" So K2 was giving us advance warning eleven years before we had heard of'self-isolation' What is coming next, O Oracle of the Stormy Port.

Actually, I have seen that things were headed in that direction for a long time. Covid-19 just gave it that extra push.

A crazy woman out in the street just now was proclaiming the numbers of the winning horses in this afternoon's Prix d'Amérique, one of the biggest horse races of the year. What if she was an oracle and not crazy? I don't remember which numbers she was saying to play, so at least I won't have to kick myself for not playing.
