Interesting although I would hate to be from a place whose claim to fame was the location of catching a big fish.

Would you prefer Wyoming, with "lowest rate of syphilis"?
I didn't know about NC & its sweet potatoes, although when I lived there I grew lovely sweet potatoes & lots of them.

I was rummaging through the trunk of my car trying to find something thought I had put in there from when we were in the salvaging phase of our home. I didn't find what I wanted but did find a large folio of National Geographic maps dated 1958. I realize that many of these maps are obsolete and countries, regions depicted have shifted, changed names etc. but I can't bear to toss them. Perfectly preserved with no creases or folds. I will find some creative type of way to utilize them.

Think about putting them in a bathroom -- a place where people spend time & sometimes forget to bring reading material.
I lived in a house with one of those half-baths under the stairs. We put maps on the walls and on the slanted ceiling. That is how I know that off the coast of Chile there are two small islands named, respectively, Más Cerca and Más Afuera.

I kept a map of Indochina on my WC wall for many years. I fantasized so many trips looking at it.

I do that many times a day...my Indo-China map is a large battered paper one, split creases, annotations and circles reminding me of the dreams and adventures I had with that map.
1994 my 5 weeks in Vietnam included a 4 days of great celebration to mark Dien Bien Phu day, Reunification day, Independence day and May Day. It also was the 1st day of legal commerce with the USA...the advertising went up overnight and the festive youth toasted these Days of freedom in warm Coca Cola. My map sits on the wall in front of my desk...out of date but still dreaming.

( I seem to remember maybe it was in this thread) Kimby mentioning that she wallpapered a small room perhaps a WC with NG maps. The upstairs guest room and bath (where you will be staying Bixa...) would be a perfect spot to do this.
