I have never heard of a seasoned oven bag? Sounds interesting though! However you chose to do it, I do not think there is a right way or wrong way!
I roasted many chickens this past year, sometimes with an onion and sage stuffing or sometimes stuffed with a lemon and garlic, never thought of Cayenne pepper, I will try that next time. No problem finding uses for leftovers, chopped up and put into a salad or club sandwiches.
Enjoy!

Those oven bags are very common now, made by Maggi, Knorr or sometimes just under the store brand name. Obviously, sealing the chicken (or any other kind of meat) in these bags makes it cook much faster. That stuff is always next to the spice rack and the bouillon cubes in any supermarket.

We use them. We also get herb infused paper that you wrap round chicken breast and cook in a dry pan. They come out delicious!

My mother, who was a crack cook, always made the best roast chicken. She showed me her secret process which was to heat the oven to 350F, put the chicken in a roasting pan, put the pan in the oven and take out when done (around an hour depending on the size of the chicken).

I will report back and let you know if I find anything like the product you showed. The herb infused paper I have never heard of either.

Mich, in grocery stores here in Florida the oven bags are usually on the spice aisle near the bread crumbs. Some of the brands we have are Reynolds and McCormick. I’ve never heard of herb infused paper either. Will have to look to see if we have it here.

I find roast chicken one of the easiest things to cook. My go-to recipe when I don't want to bother fiddling around and have company. Essentially Fumobici's mother's recipe, except that I don't always even preheat the oven. Put a tiny bit of water in the pan and sprinkle with salt and some paprika.

Herbes de Provence is my usual oven sprinkle.

I sometimes put a little branch of rosemary inside the chicken.

I did see the Maggi roasting bags at the grocery store today! I went to a store I do not usually go to and found them in the spice aisle. Mick, no herbed paper wrap though, I will keep searching!
bjd, roast chicken is probably our favourite meal and it is one of the meals I feel most comfortable making. For extra flavour, I sometimes rest it on thick slices of carrots and onions.
Kerouac, my mother-in-law always asks us to bring her back Herbes de Provence whenever we visit France.
