I just love seeing all those pansies Mick. Did you grow them from seeds? I've never tried them from seeds because they are so iffy here. I see them at the nursery and want to just snatch them up but refrain. Our weather pattern here is so irregular and they need to look their best with temperatures more consistent. Too many times I've put them in around this time of year and then we get a warm and very humid spell and they get very piqued looking. Very frustrating.

Manyyears ago casi but there is such a choice at the garden centre it's not really worth it. Our weather really suits them and they get most of the winter sun going.

After the one pitiful November flower that my hibiscus produced, there was another one on the verge of blooming, plus a multitude of small buds. But it has gone into suspended animation and the flower on the verge of blooming has not budged one iota in about two weeks. I imagine it is because the sun no longer shines through that window because of the season, but I would have thought that it would just give up, dry up and drop off but no. It seems to still be waiting for something, as are the other little buds.

Your hoya looks happy Tod!!! What kind of light exposure do you have for it? Mine just went through a burst of bloom but has since slowed down a bit. I have it hanging where it gets a good bit of morning sun and like yours it has been in the same pot for about 8 years now. (I got it from some generous cuttings Kimby sent me from Montana). It requires so little fussing over and although I think it must be root bound I hesitate to mess with it. (added to that, it's so big and the tendrils spill out all over, it would be a real pain) I bring her in when there's a threat of a freeze and recently when Hurricane Delta blew through here.

Mick, is that pineapple sage still outside? I love that smell!
Tod ~ tell us everything! I have a decent-sized one that was doing nothing, plus the leaves were gray and thin. I repotted it and it recovered, plus put out new growth, but not a sign of a flower. I have two babies from it, so would really like to know how to get them all flowering.

Oh yes, it's perfectly hardy. The picture doesn't do justice to the flowers which are like little darts of flame and as its late November it's a real bonus.

Bixa, It always needs something to trail along so I put it up against the wall that separates our two properties. This is in a passageway to the back of the double storey of our house. It gets early morning sun but after midday is more or less shaded by the wall. I have heard that Hoya's love to be confined. Like a small baby tightly wrapped in a receiving blanket. Many mothers do not know that babies like to be held tightly so I guess the Biblical description of the baby Jesus being found lying in 'swaddling clothes' was a sight into ancient mothering styles…..totally off the subject again!

Thanks, Tod. My big hoya is in a hanging pot, & the two smaller ones are in wall pot holders, so also essentially trailing. I guess I just have to wait for them to get pot bound now.

I don't mind. They've got it showing up all over the place. I find the look of the virus quite like an Alien from another world. But my little Hoya is definitely from this planet!
