Why is it called pineapple? The flowers are red. Does it smell of pineapple?

Yes. The leaves are pineapple scented. I also have a blackcurrant scented sage.

A slightly mad chrysanth!

It might be mad but at least it is trying .
Pretty much nothing blooming in my garden , just the occasional straggling rose bud and surprisingly the odd passion flower

What is that, Mick?
We went for a walk this afternoon and all the mimosas are in full bloom, smelling strongly in the sun. It's too early -- they usually wait for February.

Lovely Mick. Same here Bjd - some plants flowering way too early. I was astonished by a photo on a local group which was of a lovely yellow rose in full bloom .

Abundantly in KRUGER! Some species of acacia or wattle are called mimosa.

Surely that mimosa is an acacia, judging by its leaves & habit of growth, no?

Yes, I believe mimosas are a variety of acacias. The ones here are in full bloom -- a couple of weeks early.

Do you plant all your bulbs in gravel? or is that just to keep weeds down?
We're ahead of you here, Mick. Will have to go out with my camera tomorrow. Wisteria started blooming this week and some of my tulips are finishing.

The gravel is for show bjd. Sets plants off nicely. I've still got quite a few daffs to open yet. Tulips some way off.

I just love the precious Violas. Is that some kind of Erica in the picture beneath them? Very pretty.

Ah! That was my initial thought because of the leaves, but the little heather-ish flowers (undoubtedly bracts, though) fooled me. Anyway, here is one of the non-succulent plants blooming in my patio. I get some of these every morning. They're very cheery, but quite useless since the %#@$&^ girl flowers are not maturing into brides ~

Any scent?

Neither, Mick ~ think something you eat, something called different names in the UK and the US.

The flower from a zucchini? That's my first thought but it looks very big.
