He's well known in blues circles, which are probably much smaller here than in the U.S. He only comes out with a new album about every 3 years.

Another popular French blues musician is Paul Personne.

I don't deny that he is good and maybe the lyrics make him outstanding, but he doesn't do it for me, probably because of his voice.
On the other hand, if I didn't know better, Bill Deraime could make me think that the blues (la déprime?) were a native French form of music.

I went out with youngest grandson to get some food last night and he brought his music with him. As a 14 year old his tastes are totally unexpected and we had Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr and then The Doors Morrison Hotel which I haven't heard for years and is very bluesy. Land Ho! is just wonderful.

CharlElie Couture is another French singer in the tiny French blues niche.

I found this by mistake when looking for something else. This woman's guitar playing is incredible! Mick, I too stumbled across this fabulous guitarist by accident a few weeks ago. She is amazing. CharlElie Couture is another French singer in the tiny French blues niche. "French blues niche" is always a surprising concept, although it shouldn't be. In this case, it is less surprising to me since the look & sound of the video seems straight out of SW Louisiana. So, not precisely blues, but from a similar wellspring.
