Indulgence:the act or an instance of indulging;gratification,to indulge,is to allow (oneself)unrestrained gratification. I'm thinking simple indulgence or pampering, the occasional purchase of something whether it be a bouquet of flowers for oneself, the sleek magazine which normally one wouldn't purchase because of it's exorbitant price, the nice bottle of wine. I'm on a bit of a budget at the moment but I always allow myself some one indulgence every so often. Dark chocolate and a bar of fancy soap are two of my favorite indulgences. How about you?

I am dying for an ice cream right now and I think as soon as I walk out of here I'll allow myself to indulge in one.

I used to indulge myself in a number of ways, but now I almost never do so.
In olden times, I used to think it was delightful to fly to New York or Bangkok for the weekend. Well, a 3-day weekend.

For me a trip like that would be an extravagance. I find the less money I have the more I can appreciate more simple pleasures.

Chanel 'Allure' body lotion. It's so expensive but I love it.
Flowers.

Any trip abroad. Even if the budget is tight, I still have to go to France for a couple of weeks every year, camping. I just need that.

For me, unsurprisingly, it is beer. Special, real ale, preferably locally brewed or one that I've never had before.
With 2 kids and a wife, indulgence is a rare word in other sense.

Every Thursday at 3:30 in the afternoon I treat myself to a full body massage! It's delightful!!! I feel by the 4th day of the week I deserve a small reward for my work efforts whether they produced results or not. At least I tried!!! I must say that the massage is delightful and I always feel great afterwards! Plus have a great chat with the masseuse! I can feel the love!!! ;D And I tip her very well!!! I just know some of you with dirty minds will take that all wrong!!! The whole reason I spiced it up at the end! Eat your hearts out!!!

I should clarify that we have a massage school here where I live and it's a half a block away from where my office is. I have known the instructor for many years and she gives me a very good price for the fact that I am a frequent client. If you haven't had a massage, I urge you to try one, or two, or... And if you were here, I'd even pay for your massage! My good deed for the day! On www.tbs.com on Saturday they have an afternoon program called "Makeover And A Movie". Durin this episode the makever was about taking care of our health. They said that tests have shown that loneliness does as much damage to the cardiovascular sytem as does smoking. I suppose because often loneliness leads to depression. And depression leads to withdrawal from society, and life itself. We all need to be involved and connected. Everyone be sure to take care of your emotional health, OK? Everyone of us is special!

Traveler63, I love hearing about the lifestyle you and your husband have made -- that you all have pinpointed things that are pleasurable and attainable and figured out how to have them in your lives. It's a good lesson to take to heart.

I don't know why but I've always found massages rather embarrasing. I'm never sure what the masseur/masseuse will get up to. The one fateful occasion when I was put off massages for ever was when the masseur seized my legs and did a 'scissors' movement with them.
That just about finished me.

Are you sure you didn't accidentlily walk into a karate class??? Or wrestling with a BF??? In the 5 years I have gotten massages I have never heard of, or experienced such a thing! Ha Ha Ha! When I get my massage this week I'll ask the instructor if there's any chance the masseuse will wrestle me to the floor! I am convinced more and more that your avatar is a good semblence of your personality! Which is great!!!

What a splendid story spinny! I must say... I am very much impressed by your courage and lack of fear to go it alone if neccessary. But it is very obvious that you are a traveler, not a tourist, but a world traveler. Please write that book!

I indulged in some fresh tuberose flowers from the market this week. Next year hope to have my own to cut and bring in to enjoy. What a clean fragrance.

Pinball! I can't resist wasting time playing the silver ball. Although, sadly, you just don't see many machines around these days. A couple of years back I bought a used machine (Dungeons and Dragons - built in 1989) - "for the kids" .

I was given a wonderful Back Massage yesterday. It was quite a surprise. I had gone to a friend's house for tea. Suddenly someone mentioned 'massage' and next thing I had a hotwaterbottle (wrapped in a pillowcase) on my shoulders warming my muscles, then I was squirted with a wonderful thick white cream, my shoulders were treated to a deep massage that hurt but afterwards felt so good, and then Tiger Balm was rubbed in. I feel great today.

I am a pinball addict as well, to the extent that when the rock opera Tommy was staged in Los Angeles, I participated in the Pinball Wizard tournament and came in 3rd. I still have a Tommy album autographed by Keith Moon to this day.
