Thanks Auntie,I have visited the Barefoot Beekeeper site quite a few times. Somewhere on here I talked about beekeeping ,anyway ,continues to fascinate and agree with the smaller hive production theory. I have been trying to purchase some used equipment or barter with these people I know whose grandfather kept bees in my neighborhood. At the rate they are dragging on the stuff may well be rotten by now. Thanks again.

So distressing, especially to think that it's happening in Switzerland, a place one thinks of as high, clear and clean.
The tips in your Reply #2 are not only practical -- they're fun! The problem is convincing others of the harm they're doing. I've lived in subdivisions, where the biggest goal in life is having a big lawn -- the most wasteful boring thing that can be done with a piece of land. In service to this are pesticides and herbicides, all washing into the water table. And you haven't lived until you've seen me burst from my front door shrieking like a banshee, directing the odious mosquito fogger truck to shut off his poison as he passes my home.

Casimira is referring to this thread about backyard beekeeping. There is no way to merge the two threads, but now more than ever it seems an idea that need thoughtful consideration.
