I would never have bought a Renault either. Many years ago in Canada, my sister bought a little Renault. It spent more time at the garage being fixed than on the road. Our first car was a Peugeot but we sold it after about 6 years and ever since we have had Japanese cars.

Turns out that what I had was a selective power cut which didn’t affect everybody in the street. And I’ve got another one this morning.

How annoying! I suppose it would be even worse if your daughter’s home wasn’t next door.

The power runs from the board in my daughter’s house and hers is fine. Her husband, my son on law, is the electrician who set it all up. Is that legal?

Wasn't trying to be insulting, just wondering if that was why your power was being cut off.

Wasn't trying to be insulting, just wondering if that was why your power was being cut off. Gosh no! Never thought of you as being insulting. My electricity runs through daughter’s meter.

Separate meters, I presume? or do you roll the dice for who owes what?

We have an arrangement.

In that case, I don't understand how your electricity could be cut off without affecting your daughter's electricity.

Aah, I see...one circuit for you, one for your daughter and the third for that lovely little hydroponics set-up thriving in the roof space. We all know how you are a great gardener.

Unfortunately the roof space is where the bedrooms are. It’s a converted stable.....

Went to see the doc.
I have no problem with carpian tunnel, but i suffer from Dupuytren ilness. In french fibrose retractile de l'aponevrose palmaire, obviously self explanatory.
Genetic (Dad could have told me he had surgery for that 15 years ago), affecting mostly people above 50, diabetes giving a good kick to it.
You do nothing as long as you can put your hand flat on the palm with no pain.
So i am doing nothing.

Bugger. For the first time for may years I went to the shop to buy a set of curtains. Who was to know there is only one in the packet and I have to now go back and buy another packet. It does give me chance though while the sun is shining to blast around on my electric bike.

On Wednesday when my husband and I went out to celebrate his birthday we went to the New Orleans Botanical Garden.
While we were enjoying the plantings and the new sculpture garden there was one thing that really drove/drives me crazy.
Umpteen plants were mislabeled or had no labels.
I always carry a small notebook to write down the names of plants that strike my fancy.
One in particular I really wanted to be labelled had none.
This has been a pet peeve of mine for as far back as I can remember.

Maybe it's time to start a new career. They need you! I did volunteer work there back in the 1990's one day a week. My main task was to propagate plants from cuttings. I also researched (pre-internet) many of the plants that weren't labelled or mislabeled. On occasion after I didn't volunteer there someone would call me to ask me to come to the garden to ID a particular plant.

I'm in the process of labeling all my plants. Over the years, any which had labels have lost them. The reason I want them back is because when I had them, I realized my ability to remember those names was enhanced.

There are a few apps that recognize plants. You take a pic and the app gives the name. That is ho i discovered the plant Bixa Orellana.

Why is there such a thing as glass lids for cooking pots? Were these foisted on the public by the same fiends who somehow made bras that adjust in the back commonplace?
One of the claims for these stupid lids is that "you can see what's cooking!" No you can't, because there would be steam. I'm looking at an ad right now for a very attractive stainless steel sauté pan that proudly announces, "oven safe up to 500 degrees". That is followed by, "lid is oven safe up to 350 degrees."
