Inspired from watching ESPN last night.
Are there any team names you like or don't like? There is this Colombian Team called Boyacá Chicó. I know almost nothing about them, but I like how their name sounds.
Also, what do you think about pink uniforms for sports teams. There was some ad about a rugby match or rugby website, I don't quite remember which, and one of the teams they showed had bright pink uniforms. It just looked strange. Here in South America I have never seen a team with pink uniforms, although my husband says that there is a football team in Peru that wears them.

I have always liked the Dynamo name for the Kiev football team. I was just reading that in Soviet times, it was "sponsored" by... the KGB.
I also like the name of the Istanbul team Galatasaray, just because it sounds exotic to me.

Jokerit - Helsinki hockey team. It means "Jokers" - they have a fool as their logo...

Lokomotive Leipzig (locomotive Leipzig), Chemie Halle (chemistry Halle), Aktivist Schwarze Pumpe ( activist Schwarze Pumpe, SP itself means black pump but I don't know that town), Anker Wismar (anchor Wismar, W is a port city), Fortschritt Weissenfels (progress Weissenfels), Vorwaerts Strahlsund (advance Stralsund). Probably other teams in the Siviet Bloc also had 'funny' sounding names.

Moving on to sports themselves.
I see in the paper today that India has a Women's Rugby team. I didn't even think there was a man's team in India.
And ten years ago at Dorchester, not far from Oxford, I watched the International Pooh Sticks championship (which was covered by CNN).

My daughter has a deep love for Millionarios of Bogota. Thankfully only the football team and not the drug baron variety.

I can imagine!
I have also always loved the name of the football team Vasco da Gama from Rio which was founded by Portuguese immigrants. It originally was a branch of a sporting club most famous for its rowing team, hence the connection to the great Portuguese navigator.

One thing I have noticed here is that retiring sports stars always seem to do some sort of goodbye tour where they do exhibition games and such.
