I started with Streamline Moderne, moved to Transportation and now use Very Plain.

I am using Lotus, but I am a new poster, so I will probably jump around for a while.

I'm back with Streamline Moderne, although I've had my flings with most of the others.

I am currently using kimono black but I switch around and I found I went into a "skin mood mode" for a while. My favorite is Streamline Moderne Dark probably for nostalgic reasons as it was the first one I believe. But I really love Lotus and the Kimono's too. I should try some of the others.

Just a note about Streamline Moderne & Streamline Moderne Dark -- the Dark version was in response to the regular one showing up "faded" on certain monitors. Streamline Moderne is the default skin.
I really enjoy changing the skin I use from time to time.

Becoming more familiar with the board makes a big difference too,if you change skins alot it can be a little disorienting at first ,then, it's more fun to switch up.

Funny you revived this thread, Deyana -- I just changed to "here come the tugs" today. I like the way the window colors mirror the colors in the sky.

For anyone who finds the default font size too small, you might want to try the Big Buttons font. All of the writing on it is bigger, it's in soft, eye-friendly tones, and has no background picture.
Big Buttons regular font is almost identical, except with regular text sizes.

Out of curiosity, do people notice the "new" buttons when they're showing on the main page of whatever skin being used, or are those buttons too subtle?

I certainly see them, but perhaps I am trained to do so.
One thing I was thinking was that it might be a good idea to rotate the default skin, at least for the sake of the outside visitors -- not too often, because that could be annoying, but perhaps once every 4 months. Registered members, as they know (I hope) can keep whichever skin they prefer at all times.

Yes, that one is pretty. I like all of the skins that have larger, fancier "new" and "not-new" buttons. It's easy to run my eyes down the page to see which boards have some new posts on them.
Right now I'm using "Motor Court". It's comfortable on the eyes, has the big n/n-n buttons, & the link color is >red<, so easy to see. It is currently the default skin, so the one introduces visitors to the forum.

"Kimono" now has big on and off buttons, & I'm enjoying its almost decadent color scheme.

Reviving this out of nosiness. I had gone to a different skin just to check it for something after using Motor Court for quite a while. Somehow I accidentally clicked on Lotus instead of returning to Motor Court & am still in Lotus mode. I just love the fade from lighter to deeper pink on the heading bands.

And I still think that the default skin should be changed from time to time, just to wake up unregistered visitors.

I agree with you. We've had the same default for months now, I believe. Which would be your preference for default? I think it should be something port-y, such as Here Come the Tugs (which would wake the dead) or Telescope, which is very subtle, almost mysterious.
If it were only up to me to choose, I'd go for Transportation. It's bright, but not glary, has super nice Moderne graphics, and there is good contrast between the linked and non-linked text.* In fact, I just changed to that one.
Any suggestions from other people?
*I do think Transportation would benefit from nice big new/not new buttons -- possibly the same great compass ones that grace some of the other skins.
